Marvel fans are experiencing a renaissance of excitement as the MCU prepares to roll out its most ambitious crossover events yet.
Avengers: Doomsday recently made headlines with its surprising casting announcement. Robert Downey Jr. is set to return in a completely new role—Victor Von Doom, aka Doctor Doom—while other fan favorites like Chris Hemsworth and Paul Rudd reprise their roles as Thor and Scott Lang respectively.
The film marks the MCU’s conclusion of “The Multiverse Saga.” However, before the May 2026 release, fans can dive into a different kind of Marvel Multiverse experience.

“Marvel Cosmic Invasion”, a newly announced video game, draws inspiration from classic arcade brawlers. Developed by Tribute Games—the studio behind “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge”—this game will feature 15 beloved characters, including Spider-Man, Captain America, Storm, and Venom.
Set against a cosmic backdrop, players will engage in fierce battles across various iconic Marvel locations, including New York City and the Negative Zone. Watch the trailer below:

The plot revolves around an all-out battle to save the universe from the destructive Annihilation Wave, launched by the menacing Annihilus. The stakes couldn’t be higher, as familiar heroes like Nova and Wolverine band together with cosmic powers to push back this terrifying wave of destruction.
What makes “Marvel Cosmic Invasion” even more enticing for Marvel fans is how it draws from the MCU’s rich history of crossovers. This game, while separate from the MCU, offers a chance to explore some of the same iconic characters in a thrilling new way.
While Avengers: Doomsday is expected to be the cinematic highlight of Marvel’s Phase Six, the upcoming video game will bridge the gap for fans looking to explore the infinite-sized Marvel universe in another medium.
Avengers: Doomsday will be released in US theaters on May 1, 2026. “Cosmic Invasion” will be released on Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox, and PC via Steam sometime this year.
