Marvel Studios Shifts Gears With Rumored New Project, Moving Beyond Film and TV

There’s a buzz in the air as rumors suggest Marvel Studios may be taking a bold leap into a whole new storytelling format. And if the speculation is true, we could be seeing a major change in how fans experience the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

According to trusted insider My Time To Shine Hello, Marvel Studios is reportedly working on a video game that could tie directly into the existing MCU, creating a new layer of interactivity for fans.

With the MCU’s reputation for connecting films and Disney+ shows through tightly woven narratives, expanding this universe into gaming could signal an exciting—and unpredictable—shift. Fans are already speculating about how this new direction might impact beloved characters and ongoing storylines.

Back in 2019, when Kevin Feige became Marvel’s Chief Creative Officer, his influence was set to expand beyond film and television, extending into gaming and publishing. Shortly after, Marvel entered a deal with Electronic Arts to develop three new video games, including a much-anticipated Iron Man title from EA Motive. While that game is still in development and doesn’t feature Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, it marks a significant step in Marvel’s gaming ambitions.

Unlike the previously announced games, which exist in separate universes, this latest rumor has sparked speculation that the new project might directly tie into the larger MCU, possibly blending gaming and film in ways we’ve never seen.

But for now, details are few, and any game in development is likely in its infancy, meaning it could be a while before we see anything official.

Marvel is no stranger to bold moves. While the recent success of Deadpool & Wolverine (2024) brought in over $1 billion at the box office, not every project has landed so successfully. In fact, some critics have argued that the MCU has become overly complex, with its sprawling narrative now stretching across numerous films and Disney+ series, making it harder for casual viewers to keep up.

Whether this gaming venture simplifies or adds layers to the MCU’s storytelling remains to be seen. For now, fans are left to wonder what this new direction could mean for the future of Marvel’s ever-expanding universe.

What would you hope to see in a Marvel video game?
