Disney World visitors hoping to catch Fantasmic! at Hollywood Studios now have more opportunities to experience the beloved nighttime spectacular. Due to the surge in crowds for Spring Break, Disney has added additional showtimes, giving guests more flexibility in their evening plans.
Fantasmic! – A Disney Classic
Originally debuting at Disneyland in 1992, Fantasmic! has been a staple of Disney nighttime entertainment for decades. The show later made its way to what was then MGM Studios now Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 1998.
Featuring a blend of music, water effects, pyrotechnics, and beloved Disney characters, the production takes audiences on a journey through Mickey Mouse’s imagination as he battles iconic Disney villains. In recent years, the Hollywood Studios version underwent updates, introducing new sequences and technology to keep the experience fresh for longtime fans and newcomers alike.
Why More Shows?
Disney’s decision to extend the Fantasmic! schedule aligns with its usual strategy of increasing entertainment offerings when crowd levels spike. Spring Break is one of the busiest times of the year at Walt Disney World, with families and travelers flooding the parks. High attendance often results in longer wait times for rides and attractions, making nighttime shows an even more attractive option for guests looking to end their day with a grand spectacle.
Recognizing the increased demand, Disney has added a second showtime to the Fantasmic! schedule. From March 20 through March 22, Fantasmic! will run at both 8:30 PM and 9:30 PM. The expanded schedule continues on March 23, when showtimes shift to 8:30 PM and 10:00 PM. The additional showings will last until March 29, after which Fantasmic! will return to its regular schedule of a single performance at 8:30 PM nightly.
What This Means for Guests
For those visiting Disney World during Spring Break, this is great news. With two showings available, guests have more flexibility in choosing when to see Fantasmic!, which could help reduce the crowds at each performance. The later showtimes may be especially beneficial for families who prefer to enjoy rides or dining experiences earlier in the evening before settling in for the show.
Additionally, having more opportunities to see Fantasmic! may make it easier to secure seating without needing to line up too far in advance. With large Spring Break crowds, guests attending the first show might still want to arrive early for optimal viewing, but those opting for the second showing may find it easier to grab a good spot.
A Sign of Things to Come?
While these additional showings are currently scheduled for Spring Break, this could indicate that Disney is prepared to adjust entertainment offerings based on demand. Historically, park officials have extended operating hours and added extra performances for major holidays and peak seasons, such as Thanksgiving and Christmas. If Fantasmic! continues to draw large crowds, guests visiting during other busy times of the year may also benefit from additional showings.
Ultimately, the expanded schedule reflects Disney’s efforts to enhance guest experiences during one of the park’s busiest seasons. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a longtime Disney fan, having extra chances to see Fantasmic! is a welcome addition to the Spring Break festivities at Walt Disney World.
