Due to the sheer size of the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, it can be quite hard to see and do everything during guests’ trips. From Magic Kingdom to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, there’s a daunting amount of rides, attractions, shows, restaurants, and activities to explore and enjoy, practically ensuring guests will be planning their next trip before their first one ends.
Disney World continues to grow in scope and scale, with new attractions and locations on the horizon at all times. This is especially true for EPCOT, which has undergone significant changes over the last few years.
Unfortunately, one of EPCOT’s newest additions is in desperate need of some cleaning, as reported by a guest who recently visited the park.

Due to Florida’s extreme heat and humidity, mold and algae can be a real nuisance. Disney takes great care to ensure all the park areas are clean and safe, but EPCOT’s new World Celebration area has been hit with what appears to be mold just a few months after officially opening.
This alleged mold problem was uncovered and shared by Twitter/X user La Reina.
And what are these nasty spots on the lights in World Celebration (AKA the Outdoor Starbucks) at #EPCOT?!? Mold?!?

World Celebration is one of four lands featured at EPCOT, joining World Nature, World Discovery, and World Showcase. Mold appears to be growing in/around the light installations in the ground at World Celebration.
Since they first debuted, these lights have failed to work 100% of the time, becoming somewhat of a pain point for Disney.

EPCOT has undoubtedly seen the most changes at Walt Disney World, with the park wrapping up its years-long transformation project in 2024. This project started well before 2020, with Disney announcing several new attractions, rides, locations, and experiences would be added to EPCOT’s lineup.
A massive refurbishment was planned for Spaceship Earth, EPCOT’s premier dark ride at the front of the park. A new attraction based on Mary Poppins (1964) was also announced for EPCOT.
However, many of these projects got lost in the shuffle following the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020. While never officially canceled, Disney certainly put some of these planned projects on the shelf for the foreseeable future, with the announcement that EPCOT’s transformation had been completed earlier this year cementing this even further.
