More of the American Adventure World Showcase Pavilion has been covered and blocked with construction equipment, following damage observed after the 250th Fourth of July celebrations at EPCOT. Here's what to know before your next visit to the Most Magical Place on Earth.
Construction in the American Adventure Pavilion at EPCOT
Damage appeared after Walt Disney World Resort removed Independence Day-themed red, white, and blue bunting and signage from the main building in the American Adventure World Showcase Pavilion at EPCOT. At least one of the metal supports that held the signage was torn from a pillar during removal, chipping paint and exposing some of the inner infrastructure.
A few weeks ago, construction equipment appeared in the affected area, with some of the damaged pillars in the front of the colonial-themed building surrounded by protective materials. Around the same time, Walt Disney World Resort filed a general construction permit listing a roofing and architectural company as the third-party contractor for the work. Things have been mostly quiet since then, that is, until Wednesday.
On July 29, WDWNT reported that Walt Disney World Resort had added similar construction barriers to at least four of the pillars on the right side of the building. These supports sit in front of a partially outdoor area that houses the Kidcot Fun Stop.
The ongoing project has also exposed more damage to the facade of the building, including holes above the pillars–presumably left over from the signage installation for the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States.
Despite the ongoing construction, operations in the American Adventure World Showcase Pavilion at EPCOT continue mostly unaffected. Central Florida Disney Park guests can still visit the Kidcot Fun Stop, experience the American Adventure audio-animatronic show and the Voices of Liberty choir, use the restrooms, and dine at the Regal Eagle Smokehouse.
