At Walt Disney World Resort, a whirlwind of transformation is on the horizon as the company plans significant renovations across its theme parks. Disney has embarked on large-scale projects that will see changes ranging from minor adjustments to major overhauls of attractions and facilities.

Disney's Hollywood Studios will undergo some of the most notable changes. One of the most significant transformations is the closure of the historic Muppets Courtyard, a beloved area that had captured the hearts of fans for decades. Muppets Courtyard was home to attractions like Muppet*Vision 3D, which held sentimental value, as it was one of the last projects worked on by Muppets creator Jim Henson.

In response to the closure, Disney plans to introduce a new Monsters Inc.-themed land, marking a fresh direction for the park. This announcement came during one of Disney's major conferences, where the company unveiled its future projects. Guests are naturally intrigued about how this new area will integrate within the park and what experiences it will offer.

Beloved attractions are not exempt from these changes, with excitement and apprehension surrounding the impending transformation. Guests are left wondering how these updates will impact their memorable experiences at the park.

Animation Courtyard is not left untouched in this wave of transformations. Disney has announced a new attraction titled “The Magic of Disney Animation,” which will take the place of the Star Wars: Launch Bay. This enhancement draws inspiration from the real-life studio buildings in Burbank, California, promising to deliver an immersive experience focusing on Disney's animation legacy.

The existing attractions in Animation Courtyard, including Disney Jr. Play and Dance!, are slated for closure as the area undergoes its redesign. The official closure timeline is set to begin in September 2025, leading to the highly anticipated opening of “The Magic of Disney Animation” in 2026. The reimagining of this area signifies Disney's commitment to celebrating its rich history while inviting guests to explore new creative landscapes.

Iconic Attractions Undergoing Revamps

One of the most significant changes at Disney's Hollywood Studios involves the beloved Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. This iconic ride, which has featured Aerosmith since its inception in 1999, is set to undergo a complete reimagining, replacing the rock band with the Muppets. Scheduled to close in 2026, the transformation has provoked a mix of excitement and nostalgic concerns from guests who have fond memories of the original attraction.

The new version of the roller coaster, dubbed Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster The Muppets, is expected to open later in the same year. Fans are eagerly discussing how the Muppets will bring a fresh twist to the ride's thrilling experience while simultaneously feeling a tinge of sadness for the classic iteration.

Luke Dammann

When at Disney world, Luke will probably be found eating with his favorite animatronic, Sonny Eclipse at Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe. When not at Disney World, Luke will probably be found defending Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe to people who claim "there are better restaurants"
