New permits show that changes are coming to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Resort in California.
Located in Disneyland Park at Anaheim’s Disneyland Resort, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, AKA Batuu, is a dream for Star Wars fans. Boasting two signature attractions, Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, as well as numerous themed food and beverage offerings, Galaxy’s Edge has been a hit with fans ever since its 2019 opening.
Now, new information has surfaced regarding some construction coming to the Black Spire Outpost. What could it mean?
Filed on November 27, the reported permits to the area include the addition of four new projectors to be installed across four different locations: Oga’s Cantina, the Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run, the Village Shops, and Souk Market.
The most likely explanation for this installation is either to enhance the already existing Fire of the Rising Moons nighttime show, which plays on select nights at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge or to prepare for a potential new spectacular coming soon.
The new projectors could also see the Black Spire Outpost become more animated with potential experiences or interactions displayed across the land on various buildings. This would be a good way to further improve the immersiveness of Galaxy’s Edge using visual effects.
Regardless of what the permit means, Disneyland is obviously getting ready to upscale its already impressive Star Wars offering at the resort.
It’s not just projectors that are coming down the pipeline for Disneyland Resort, either. This year’s D23 Expo proved to be big for announcements across Disney’s theme park portfolio, and Walt’s first was not left out of proceedings.
The already-teased Avatar expansion was revealed to be based on Avatar: The Way of Water (2022) and will open in Disney California Adventure Park. Also, at Disneyland’s sister park, Avengers Campus will double in size to include two new attractions (Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab), and the company’s first-ever Coco-themed ride will also debut.
