The production is scheduled to open in February 2027 at Secret Cinema’s newly announced flagship venue at Greenwich Peninsula in London.
For Disney fans who have spent years dreaming about physically walking through the world of the Black Pearl, Tortuga, and Captain Jack Sparrow, this may be one of the closest opportunities yet.
Disney Is Turning Pirates of the Caribbean Into a Real-World Adventure

According to details first reported by Variety, the production will transform Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl into a large-scale participatory event featuring interactive sets, live actors, music, stunt performances, and audience involvement.
That includes encounters with pirate crews, large-scale set pieces, sword fights, aerial stunt work, and locations inspired directly by the original film.
Secret Cinema artistic director Merritt Baer described the project as an “all hands on deck experience” featuring “high jinks on the high seas,” adding that guests will venture through Tortuga and even board the Black Pearl during the production.
For fans of Disney parks, the concept sounds strikingly familiar in the best possible way. It combines elements of themed entertainment, live theater, cinematic storytelling, and interactive world-building into a single event.
The Original 2003 Film Is Serving as the Foundation

Rather than adapting the franchise as a whole, the production is specifically focused on Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, the 2003 film that launched Disney’s hugely successful movie series.

Disney Theatrical Group executive Angelo Desimini explained that projects like this represent a broader evolution in how Disney approaches storytelling.
“At Disney Theatrical Group, we are exploring bold new ways to expand our storytelling beyond the proscenium and into immersive, shared experiences,” Desimini said.
He described Pirates of the Caribbean as a franchise naturally suited for this type of environment because of its “adventure, music, and iconic characters.”
Desimini also emphasized that the goal is to make audiences feel like participants instead of spectators.
That distinction reflects a growing trend throughout the entertainment industry, but especially within Disney’s own themed entertainment strategy. Fans increasingly want experiences that feel personal, interactive, and emotionally engaging rather than simply observational.
Disney parks have already leaned heavily into this concept through lands like Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, interactive queue experiences, and immersive hotel projects.
This Pirates of the Caribbean production appears to continue that same philosophy outside the traditional theme park space.
