Disney’s Pop Century Resort descended into chaos on Wednesday evening as a surge of guests returning from the theme parks overwhelmed the hotel’s dining and shopping areas. With lines stretching out the door and guests growing impatient, Disney cast members scrambled to keep operations running smoothly.
Overcrowding Overwhelms Disney’s Pop Century Resort
Disney’s Pop Century Resort is a Value hotel that’s well-loved for its affordability and nostalgic decor. Connected to the Disney Skyliner alongside Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, it offers easy access to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, making it a top choice for many Walt Disney World Resort guests.
However, a recent evening rush proved too much for the hotel’s food court, Everything POP Shopping & Dining, which is already operating under construction constraints.
Around 7:00 p.m., a Disney Fanatic team member observed massive lines at the resort’s three operating food stalls. At least 30 people were queued at each counter, with one line snaking all the way to the gift shop. Guests looking for grab-and-go snacks had to maneuver through a bottlenecked area packed with families.
Disney Cast Members Scramble to Keep Up
The Disney Fanatic team member spotted a manager darting between food stations, assisting cast members and helping serve frustrated Walt Disney World Resort guests. Despite the chaos, nearly every checkout line was open, which helped reduce wait times for purchasing food after guests received their orders.
It’s unclear whether the delays were caused by ongoing refurbishments or other factors, such as staffing shortages or inventory challenges. The construction, which has been underway for months, includes updates to the gift shop and food court. While most of the dining area is operational, parts of the facility, such as the former ice cream station, remain hidden behind construction walls.
