A pressed penny machine vanished overnight from the Germany World Showcase Pavilion at EPCOT, leaving only discolored flooring where the souvenir dispenser previously sat inside Biergarten's enclosed entrance.
WDWNT reported the disappearance on March 25, posting a Facebook photo showing the empty spot. The machine dispensed several designs, including one inspired by Snow White and the Seven Dwarves (1937) that was exclusive to Germany's World Showcase Pavilion.
Walt Disney World Resort hasn't acknowledged the removal or indicated whether the machine will return.
The disappearance comes after the U.S. Mint discontinued production of the one-cent coin in November 2025. However, Disney continues releasing new pressed penny designs at theme parks, hotels, and shopping districts—including recent Rock ‘n' Roller Coaster designs at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
Pressed Pennies Continue Despite Mint Changes

Plenty of pennies remain in U.S. circulation. Many Walt Disney World Resort pressed coin machines accept cards or bills, allowing guests to pay without pennies. Some dispensers use plain copper discs instead of actual currency, making the one-cent coin's retirement irrelevant for the souvenir format.
Hundreds of pressed penny machines operate throughout Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort. The Germany World Showcase Pavilion machine is probably out for maintenance or for the installation of a new design, rather than permanent removal.

Pressed pennies remain one of the most affordable souvenirs at Walt Disney World Resort, typically costing around $1 per design. The low price point compared to other merchandise makes them accessible keepsakes, particularly for children collecting designs from different parks and locations.
Without an official explanation from Disney, the timeline of the machine's absence remains unknown. It could return in days with new designs or stay missing for weeks during extended maintenance.
