Ranking Major 2025 Additions in Orlando Theme Parks From Worst to Best

Orlando theme parks went absolutely wild in 2025, dropping more new attractions, hotels, bars, and experiences than we’ve seen in years. We’re talking about the first new theme park since 1998, nighttime parades returning after a long absence, Magic Kingdom getting its first bar, and attractions undergoing complete overhauls that either thrilled or devastated fans, depending on their loyalties. Now that we’re heading into 2026, it’s time to look back and rank everything Orlando theme parks added in 2025, from the additions that missed the mark to the absolute game changers that will influence theme park development for years.

10. GEO-82 at EPCOT

Starting at the bottom is GEO-82, the Spaceship Earth lounge, which opened on June 4, 2025. Look, the concept is solid. A lounge paying tribute to EPCOT’s 1982 opening with geometric sphere-inspired decor, zen spaces, and upscale cocktails sounds impressive on paper. The execution created an atmosphere with rich textures and warm metallic tones, resulting in intimate and elegant spaces.

But the pricing is absolutely insane, and reservations are nearly impossible to secure. The lounge is exclusively 21 and older, which makes sense for a bar, but limits who can experience it. The backlash has been real, with guests complaining that what should be a celebration of EPCOT’s legacy feels more like an overpriced exclusive club that most people can’t access. It’s a miss when your tribute to classic EPCOT alienates the very fans who would most appreciate it.

9. Test Track Reopening at EPCOT

Test Track reopened on July 22, 2025, after an extensive refurbishment, and reactions have been mixed. The updated attraction features new queue exhibits that focus on automotive innovation, updated musical scores, and scenes that highlight technology making cars smarter. The outdoor high-speed section that made Test Track thrilling remains intact.

The problem is that the retheme removed elements that fans loved about previous versions while adding educational components that feel heavy-handed. Some guests appreciate the focus on innovation and updated technology. Others preferred the design studio concept or even the original version’s automotive testing theme. Test Track lands in the lower rankings, not because it’s bad, but because it’s divisive in ways that make it feel like a lateral move rather than a clear improvement.

8. Zootopia: Better Zoogether! at Animal Kingdom

Zootopia: Better Zoogether! opened November 7, 2025, replacing It’s Tough to Be a Bug in the Tree of Life. The 4D show features Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde celebrating Zoogether Day with performances from various Zootopia districts. The show ties closely to Zootopia 2, which creates synergy Disney loves but also requires guests to watch a specific movie to fully appreciate the attraction.

The show itself is fine. The problem is what it replaced. It’s Tough to Be a Bug was beloved by longtime Animal Kingdom fans who appreciated its connection to the park’s opening and its integration into the Tree of Life. Replacing it with IP-driven content that requires external knowledge of movies feels like Disney prioritizing synergy over creating timeless theme park experiences. It ranks low because the loss outweighs the gain for many fans.

7. The Beak and Barrel at Magic Kingdom

The Beak and Barrel opened August 29, 2025, as Magic Kingdom’s first bar, ending the park’s status as Disney World’s only dry property. This Pirates of the Caribbean-themed tavern serves cocktails to guests 21 and older, along with a variety of food options. The theming extends the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction’s story, and the pirate atmosphere is well-executed.

The 45-minute time limit and advance reservations required 60 days out reveal immediate popularity, but also create frustration for guests who want casual drop-in experiences rather than planned reservations months ahead. The Beak and Barrel represents historic change for Magic Kingdom and offers quality theming, but the execution favors guests who plan obsessively over those seeking spontaneous experiences.

6. Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After and The Little Mermaid at Hollywood Studios

Both stage shows opened on May 27, 2025, at Hollywood Studios. Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After features the Magic Mirror summoning favorite villains, who explain why audiences misunderstood them, culminating in guests making final calls about the villains’ motivations. The Little Mermaid: A Musical Adventure retells the story from Ariel’s perspective, featuring live actors, puppets, digital animation, and motion capture, to create underwater settings.

Both shows deliver quality entertainment and fill gaps in Hollywood Studios’ lineup. They rank mid-list because, while they’re good additions that provide air-conditioned entertainment, they’re not groundbreaking experiences that fundamentally change how guests experience the park. They’re solid but not spectacular.

5. Universal’s Three New Hotels in 2025

Universal Stella Nova Resort opened January 21, Universal Terra Luna Resort opened March 25, and Universal Helios Grand Hotel opened May 22 inside EPIC Universe. These hotels represent a massive infrastructure investment required to accommodate Epic Universe guests.

Stella Nova offers 750 rooms with galactic theming. Terra Luna features planetary-inspired design. Helios Grand Hotel offers Mediterranean elegance within the theme park, along with exclusive early entry privileges. These hotels rank solidly mid-list because while they’re necessary and well-executed, hotels are support infrastructure rather than primary attractions. They enable great theme park experiences without being the experiences themselves.

4. Halloween Horror Nights 2025 at Universal

Halloween Horror Nights 34 ran on select nights between August 29 and November 2, featuring major properties like Terrifier, Jason, and Five Nights at Freddy’s, as well as incredible original houses, including El Artista and Galkn. Fans called it the best Halloween Horror Nights in years, surpassing recent events that felt like they were coasting on reputation.

HHN 34 ranks high because it demonstrated Universal’s continued dominance in seasonal events while delivering genuine quality that exceeded expectations. The combination of recognizable IP and original creative content created an event that satisfied hardcore fans while attracting casual guests drawn by familiar properties.

3. Disney Starlight Nighttime Parade at Magic Kingdom

Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away debuted July 20, 2025. Bringing back nighttime parade magic that had been missing for years. Performing at 9:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. nightly, the parade travels from Main Street, U.S.A. toward Frontierland. The parade features illuminated floats, contemporary technology, and storytelling that honors previous nighttime parades while creating something new.

Disney Starlight ranks high because it filled a void guests had been complaining about for years. Magic Kingdom without a nighttime parade felt incomplete to anyone who remembered Main Street Electrical Parade or SpectroMagic. Bringing back this entertainment category represents Disney listening to guests and investing in experiences that create magical moments beyond riding attractions.

2. EPIC Universe at Universal Orlando Resort

Epic Universe opened May 22, 2025, as the first entirely new Orlando theme park since Animal Kingdom in 1998. Featuring SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic, How to Train Your Dragon: Isle of Berk, and Dark Universe, EPIC Universe delivers intense theming and cutting-edge attractions like Monsters Unchained and Stardust Racers.

Epic Universe ranks second because it fundamentally changed Orlando’s theme park landscape. Universal is now a legitimate multi-day destination competing directly with Disney rather than a secondary add-on. The quality of theming, innovation in attractions, and overall execution demonstrate what modern theme parks can achieve when companies invest at this level. EPIC Universe will have a lasting influence on the theme park development industry for years to come.

1. The Complete 2025 Package

The best addition to Orlando theme park life in 2025 wasn’t any single attraction or hotel. It was the cumulative effect of everything opening in one year, creating an environment where guests have more quality options than ever before. Disney brought back nighttime parades, opened new entertainment, and added bars to previously dry parks. Universal opened an entirely new theme park, along with three hotels, and delivered an incredible Halloween Horror Nights.

The combination means Orlando theme parks offered more new experiences in 2025 than any recent year, raising standards for what guests expect and forcing both companies to continue innovating. That competitive environment benefits everyone who visits, and that’s why the complete 2025 package ranks as the single best addition to Orlando theme park life this year.
