Five years after its release, Zack Snyder’s Justice League (2021) is suddenly finding a new wave of attention—again, on streaming. The four-hour cut has climbed to the top of the charts following the rollout of HBO Max content in India via JioHotstar, underlining how the film continues to resonate well beyond its original debut.

That renewed success speaks to the staying power of what fans call the “Snyderverse,” Zack Snyder’s trilogy within the DC Extended Universe: Man of Steel (2013), Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), and Justice League (2021).
Despite the DCEU’s conclusion, those films remain a focal point for audiences who continue to champion Snyder’s take on characters like Henry Cavill (Clark Kent/Kal-El/Superman), Ben Affleck (Bruce Wayne/Batman), and Ray Fisher (Victor Stone/Cyborg).

Speaking to Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Zack Snyder acknowledged that the door isn’t entirely closed on his DC story, saying, “We absolutely talked about it quite a bit. We live in a world where all that is possible. Whatever form it would take, that would be amazing.”
He also revisited the long and uncertain journey behind the project, which followed the troubled release of Justice League (2017). “I was on the ride that created Justice League, and if you were in my shoes there were numerous times, dark times, when there was no chance that there will ever be my version of it. It will never exist. It can’t… cost, politics, everything stood against.” He added, “And yet it exists. The fans should never forget they did that.”
Snyder reinforced the film’s current momentum in a social media post confirming its No. 1 ranking on JioHotstar, noting that it had surpassed major titles including Harry Potter and Avengers: Endgame (2019).
“Zack Snyder’s Justice League just hit #1 on JioHotstar’s Top 10 Movies — right as HBO Max officially launched there!
Beating out Harry Potter, Avengers: Endgame, and more…
The real Justice League is finally available in India the way it was meant to be seen. 4 hours of epicness. Black suit Superman. Full Cyborg story. Darkseid tease.

There's currently no verifiable data to confirm Justice League‘s new streaming success — just Snyder's Instagram post.
Meanwhile, the DCEU has been replaced by the DC Universe under James Gunn and Peter Safran, beginning with Superman (2025), which introduced David Corenswet (Clark Kent/Kal-El/Superman) and grossed $618.7 million worldwide.
Upcoming entries include Supergirl (June 26, 2026), starring Milly Alcock (Kara Zor-El/Supergirl), Clayface (October 23, 2026) with Tom Rhys Harries, and Man of Tomorrow (July 9, 2027), which will see Corenswet return to the role in full.
Meanwhile, the continued success of Zack Snyder’s Justice League (2021) raises a familiar question: whether Snyder’s version of this universe could find a path forward alongside the DCU.
