runDisney took to social media this afternoon to share cryptic message for an announcement coming early next week. The message mentions something Frozen (2013) with regards to this summer’s virtual race series. Here’s what we know so far, and what we think the announcement could be that will be coming from runDisney on Monday, March 28.

The message from Disney’s own road race organization read, “A flurry of fun awaits. ❄️ Tune in this Monday, March 28, for a cool announcement about the #runDisney Summer Virtual Series! #runDisneyVirtual”. We do know that for a number of years now, runDisney has offered a virtual race series over the summer and each race usually has a set theme, so it is quite possible that this year’s theme will be Frozen.
Frozen has yet to be featured in a runDisney event at a Disney , so a Frozen-themed would surely be an exciting addition to this year’s or virtually, save for its very general inclusion by running in the runDisney calendar if that is the case.
runDisney’s virtual races have grown in popularity especially during the recovery phases of the COVID-19 pandemic when some Guests have still put off traveling. The virtual events give Guests the opportunity to complete the race at home (or on a treadmill, at another destination, or wherever they like really) while still earning a runDisney finisher’s medal and feeling like they are apart of the most magical running community around.
In addition to the virtual summer series, runDisney has been offering virtual races with most of its regularly scheduled events for the looking to participate from afar. You can find a full list of 2022-23 runDisney events in this post, along with the dates registration opens up. Registration goes quickly for runDisney events (even virtual ones!) so if you are planning on running we recommend that you registration as soon as you are able to.
As for Monday’s announcement? We can’t wait to hear what kind of Frozen fun will be coming soon to runDisney and will update you with the latest news soon.
