With The Mandalorian and Grogu set to hit theaters on May 22, speculation is running high about which familiar faces from the Disney+ series might appear.
While Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu are confirmed leads, Lucasfilm hasn't revealed any other returning characters besides those who appear in the trailer and in other marketing.
However, given the show’s history of surprising fans, here’s a look at some characters who could appear in the upcoming film, along with those already confirmed.

Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios
The Star Wars Rebels character’s live-action debut but brief appearance in The Mandalorian Season 3 paved the way for a bigger role in the upcoming film.
Trapper Wolf
Played by co-writer and new Lucasfilm President Dave Filoni, the New Republic X-Wing pilot, who appears briefly in The Mandalorian, is expected to reprise his role.
Carson Teva
Another New Republic pilot, played by Paul Sun-Hyung Lee in the Disney+ series, is now expected to appear following recent Star Wars LEGO set reveals.

Embo
The bounty hunter from The Clone Wars series is confirmed in the latest trailer.
Rotta the Hutt
Returning from the 2008 Clone Wars movie, now portrayed by Jeremy Allen White, is an adult version of Rotta the Hutt.
Hutt Twins
First appearing in The Book of Boba Fett (2021), these characters will have a larger villainous presence, as revealed in the latest trailer for the film.

Ahsoka Tano
There's no confirmation Rosario Dawson will return as Ahsoka Tano in The Mandalorian and Grogu, but her surprise appearances in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, as well as her own Disney+ series, make her a top speculative candidate.
Luke Skywalker
With his enormous Star Wars legacy, and not to mention his surprise appearances in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, a cameo from Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) would go down incredibly well with longtime fans.
Bo-Katan Kryze
While Katee Sackhoff has faced professional hurdles since her time on The Mandalorian, fan speculation that Bo-Katan Kryze will return keeps her return alive.

Boba Fett
Already seen on-screen in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, an appearance from Temuera Morrison is plausible given his ongoing involvement in the Mando-Verse.
Fennec Shand
Ming-Na Wen’s character also remains a fan favorite. As she's essentially Boba Fett's sidekick, if he appears, she probably won't be too far behind.

While some characters are instantly ruled out due to off-screen events (Cara Dune actress Gina Carano being fired by Lucasfilm in 2021 and Greef Karga actor Carl Weathers sadly passing away in 2024), the potential return of heroes and villains from the Disney+ series will have Star Wars fans scanning every frame of all the trailers for the new film.
The Mandalorian and Grogu
The Mandalorian and Grogu stars Pedro Pascal (Din Djarin), Sigourney Weaver (Ward), Jeremy Allen White (Rotta the Hutt), and Jonny Coyne (an unnamed Imperial Warlord). Watch the official trailer for the film below:
“The evil Empire has fallen, and Imperial warlords remain scattered throughout the galaxy,” the official synopsis on StarWars.com reads. “As the fledgling New Republic works to protect everything the Rebellion fought for, they have enlisted the help of legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his young apprentice Grogu.”
The Mandalorian and Grogu is set to release in theaters on May 22.
