70 years after the grand opening of Disneyland, Walt Disney is once again greeting guests on Main Street, U.S.A.—this time, in a way only Disney could imagine.
July 17, 2025, marked the 70th anniversary of Disneyland’s historic debut in Anaheim, California. As part of the festivities, the beloved Main Street Opera House debuted Walt Disney—A Magical Life, a theatrical production that blends cutting-edge technology with heartfelt storytelling. This immersive show charts Walt’s journey from a young dreamer to the visionary behind Disneyland, concluding with a scene set in his office where Walt “speaks” to the audience using original archival audio.

To attend A Magical Life, guests must join a virtual queue through the Disneyland app. However, availability is not guaranteed. As noted in the terms: “The Opera House Lobby area is available approximately 15–20 minutes before showtime. Capacity is limited. Joining the virtual queue does not guarantee the ability to experience Walt Disney — A Magical Life. Showtimes are subject to change and cancellation. In some circumstances, The Disneyland Story presenting Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln may be presented instead.”
In such cases, The Disneyland Story presenting Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln may be shown instead. According to the Disneyland website, both shows will rotate in the future: “The Disneyland Story presenting Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln is temporarily unavailable while Walt Disney – A Magical Life, a new show that explores the life of Walt Disney, plays at the Main Street Opera House. The 2 shows will eventually be presented on a rotating basis.”

The introduction of A Magical Life serves as a fitting tribute to Disneyland’s enduring legacy. Since 1955, the park has evolved into a sprawling resort that includes Disney California Adventure Park, themed hotels, and a wide array of dining and shopping options, all still anchored by Walt’s original vision.
Guests visiting during the 70th anniversary celebration are welcomed into a festive atmosphere that began on May 16, 2025. Highlights include the return of Paint the Night and Wondrous Journeys at Disneyland, alongside energetic new entertainment at Disney California Adventure, such as Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration! and World of Color—Happiness!

As 2025 continues, The Walt Disney Company is also looking ahead. Across its U.S. parks, significant updates are being made to accommodate growing attendance and enhance guest experiences for years to come.
But for now, Disneyland’s 70th is a celebration steeped in history, imagination, and a touch of magic—made all the more special by Walt Disney's return to the very park he built.
