This Free Disney Gift Is Landing in Passholders’ Mail Without Warning

Being a Walt Disney World Annual Passholder means getting access to some pretty cool perks. From exclusive previews and discounts to special merchandise and in-park events, there’s always something extra waiting around the corner. But sometimes, those surprises don’t come during your trip—they show up later, right in your mailbox.

That’s exactly what’s happening now for a group of Passholders who visited EPCOT earlier this year. If you happened to drop by between February 17 and 28, there’s a chance you’re about to receive something magical in the mail: the much-talked-about Ray Passholder magnet.

Disney originally announced that the Ray magnet would be available through the end of February. Designed around Ray the firefly from The Princess and the Frog (2009), this magnet quickly became one of the most highly anticipated designs. The little guy’s glowing personality and emotional storyline made him a fan favorite, so of course Passholders were eager to get their hands on it.

But in mid-February, things suddenly changed. Disney quietly updated the My Disney Experience app to say that the Ray magnet would no longer be available for pickup at EPCOT after February 16—a full 12 days earlier than originally planned. It caught a lot of people off guard, especially those who had planned their visit later in the month just for the magnet.

In place of Ray, those who visited EPCOT from February 17 to 28 received a Minnie Mouse Passholder magnet. While Minnie is always a classic, some Passholders were disappointed to miss out on Ray—especially since the magnet was so short-lived in the parks.

Fortunately, Disney wasn’t done just yet. Guests who visited EPCOT during that limited window were informed that they might still be eligible to receive the Ray magnet by mail. The only catch? Their mailing address needed to be current in their Disney account. For many, it was a longshot worth hoping for.

Fast forward to April—and those hopes are now being rewarded.

Reports have started popping up from fans sharing photos of their Ray magnets arriving in the mail. Each envelope includes a thank-you letter from Disney recognizing the guest’s visit during that late-February window, along with the Ray magnet itself. No flashy announcement. No big press push. Just a quiet, classy move that’s going a long way with loyal fans.

This kind of surprise is a reminder of the magic that keeps people coming back as Passholders year after year. Of course, there are frustrations here and there—blockout dates, reservation systems, and unexpected changes. But when Disney does something like this, it’s a simple but powerful way of saying, “Thanks for sticking with us.”

And let’s be honest—Passholder magnets have become a whole thing of their own. There are Facebook groups and Reddit threads dedicated entirely to these colorful collectibles. People display them on cars, refrigerators, and even custom-made boards showing off years of visits. When a magnet is limited in release—or especially hard to get—it only increases its value to collectors. Ray is shaping up to be one of the rare ones.

What makes this situation especially appreciated is that Disney didn’t have to send anything at all. They could’ve stuck with the in-park switch to the Minnie magnet and left it at that. But instead, they chose to go the extra mile, mailing out a batch of Ray magnets to the guests who just barely missed the window. That kind of follow-through doesn’t go unnoticed.

So if you or someone in your family visited EPCOT during that narrow window in February, now’s the time to keep a close eye on your mailbox. Your Ray magnet might be just days away from arriving—and joining the rest of your Passholder collection.

And if it hasn’t shown up yet? Don’t lose hope. Mail can be slow, especially when it’s coming from the Most Magical Place on Earth.
