Disney Updates Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Following Recent Guest Incidents

With safety conversations around Tiana's Bayou Adventure at Disneyland Park still very much ongoing, Walt Disney World Resort has quietly made an update to its own version of the attraction at Magic Kingdom Park.

WDWNT reported on July 13 that Walt Disney World Resort had replaced the pressed penny machine near the gift shop at the Tiana's Bayou Adventure exit at Magic Kingdom Park. The new machine features a wood-paneled exterior that blends naturally into the surrounding Frontierland aesthetic and offers eight brand-new coin designs.

Notably, none of the eight designs is themed to Tiana's Bayou Adventure itself. The full lineup, available for $1 each or eight for $5, includes:

  • Frontierland with Cowboy Mickey Mouse
  • Frontierland with Cowpokes Stitch and Angel
  • Frontierland with Cowboy Goofy
  • Frontierland with Cowboys Goofy, Mickey, and Donald Duck
  • Toy Story (1995) with Jessie
  • Toy Story with Stinky Pete
  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

The new machine also reflects the broader upgrade Walt Disney World Resort has been making to its collectible coin stations across the parks — swapping out the classic hand-crank designs for touchscreen controls. Most of the updated machines no longer require guests to supply their own pennies; instead, they accept cash or card payments and dispense a pressed copper medallion from internal stock. Card users must purchase all eight designs in a single transaction.

The update arrives amid heightened attention on Tiana's Bayou Adventure following two separate incidents at Disneyland Park in which young guests exited the ride vehicle at or near the top of the attraction's over-50-foot drop. One of those incidents was captured on video and spread widely online. Discussions about potential safety enhancements to the former Splash Mountain attraction have been ongoing in the weeks since.
