Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Melts Down; “Send Help,” Guests Beg

Tiana's Bayou Adventure is making waves at Disneyland Resort, but not in the way guests expected. Less than three months after its grand opening, the Princess and the Frog (2009) attraction suffered a major breakdown, leaving “soaked” riders stranded for over 20 minutes. One guest documented the ordeal, calling for help in a video on social media.

The highly anticipated Splash Mountain retheme debuted at Disneyland Park on November 15, 2024, following its Magic Kingdom Park counterpart, which opened in June. The attraction follows Princess Tiana (Anika Noni Rose), Louis (Michael-Leon Wooley), and Mama Odie (Jenifer Lewis) as they prepare for a New Orleans-style celebration, immersing guests in a lively, music-filled bayou. While the Disneyland Park version initially faced fewer technical challenges than its Florida twin, it seems some issues have finally caught up.

TikTok user Shelby (@l8dyshe) shared a firsthand account of the ride's latest malfunction, showing herself and other Disney Park guests stranded at the end of the attraction, drenched and waiting for assistance.

“First ride of the day… I do have snacks in my bag though,” she joked. “… We've been stuck for 20 minutes. Soaking wet. Send help.”

Guests Left Stranded, But Not Empty-Handed

While it remains unclear whether Disney cast members evacuated guests or restarted the ride, Shelby confirmed in the comments that her group received a complimentary Lightning Lane Pass as compensation.

Other Disneyland Resort guests chimed in with similar experiences.

“We got stuck at the very end and got free passes,” @ddworm commented.

“Us too!” Shelby replied.

Is Tiana's Bayou Adventure Struggling?

Though Disneyland Resort's version of Tiana's Bayou Adventure has generally run more smoothly than the Magic Kingdom iteration, its popularity has dwindled more quickly. While Walt Disney World Resort still requires Virtual Queue or Lightning Lane Multi Pass reservations to ride, Disneyland Resort dropped its Virtual Queue just a month after opening, switching to a traditional standby line.

Although Disneyland Resort never released the reason for the breakdown that impacted Shelby, Tiana's Bayou Adventure eventually reopened and has operated normally in the days since.
