Top 10 Things We Love To Do On Our First Day At Magic Kingdom

Main Street USA

Magic Kingdom is the most popular, and the busiest, Disney park in the world. It also happens to be my favorite! It doesn’t matter how many times I’ve been—I still get excited as soon as I enter the park and I always have a list of things I want to get done. Here are 10 things we love to do on our first day at Magic Kingdom

10. Take A Stroll Down Main Street

Since most of your day will be planned out between fastpasses and dining reservations, taking a moment to stroll down main street, breathe in the scents and take in the sights is super important. You may even notice things you’ve never seen before.

9. Visit A Character

Character interactions are one of my favorite parts about going to Disney parks, and the characters in Magic Kingdom are some of the best! I suggest meeting Gaston, any of the princesses or the big cheese himself, Mickey Mouse!

8. Shop

Magic Kingdom is home to one of the best stories in all of the parks—The Emporium. If you need a break from the rides and the heat, head into any of the stores and take a look at all of the awesome merchandise. You’re bound to find something you love.

7. Listen to the Dapper Dans

The Dapper Dans are a special token of Magic Kingdom, and they are definitely worth listening to! If you like music at all, their harmonies will blow you away. Plus, who doesn’t love musically talented, super sweet gentlemen?

6. Have A Delicious Meal

Magic Kingdom is home to some of the best restaurants, quick service and table service, across property, so definitely take advantage of it! Whether you choose to sit down for a long meal or grab something quick, you’ll be happy and the food will hit the spot.

5. Watch Festival of Fantasy

This form of entertainment is NOT to be missed. You’ll get to see your favorite characters dance and sing down the parade route while they wave and blow kisses to you. It’s truly magical for people of all ages, and the energy of the performers will bring a smile to your face.

4. Get Ice Cream on Main Street

Nothing beats ice cream from the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor! Choose from several different flavors and toppings to create the perfect sweet treat. You can even get a smaller version of the Kitchen Sink Sundae in a ‘sink’ that looks like Mickey Mouse!

3. Ride Space Mountain

This is my family’s favorite ride and we just have to ride it every time we go to Magic Kingdom. Because the wait time can hit over an hour on most days, this is a ride you definitely want to have a fast pass for.

2. Watch Celebrate The Magic/Wishes

Wishes is my favorite nighttime show at Disney, and if I don’t have to leave early to make the journey back home, I always stay and watch it. I don’t feel like any trip to Magic Kingdom, let alone Disney, is complete without watching Wishes at least once.

1. Take Pictures In Front of Cinderella Castle

It doesn’t matter how many times I’ve been—I will always get a picture of, and in front of, Cinderella Castle. I like getting pictures from different angles, during different times of the day, and when it’s different colors at night. It may give you a lot of new pictures to choose a new profile picture from, but it’ll also bring back a lot of memories!

Magic Kingdom has a lot to offer and it can be difficult to cram it all into one day. Being able to plan a whole day and still have time to let the magic sink in is hard, but with this list it’s totally doable.
