At Disney Fanatic, we’re all about helping you plan the most magical (and delicious) trip to Disney World possible — but sometimes, even a classic and calm attraction like Living with the Land has a bit of drama.
During a recent visit to EPCOT, one of our team members experienced a disruption on the ride that many guests might not even realize is happening more often than you’d think.
Let’s talk about what went down, why Cast Members had to step in (more than once), and what it means for your next ride.
A Peaceful Ride…Interrupted Repeatedly
Living with the Land is known for its gentle boat ride through EPCOT’s greenhouses, showcasing Disney’s innovative agriculture and sustainable farming techniques. It’s one of those rides where you can learn something and relax — a true hidden gem in The Land Pavilion.
But during our most recent ride, the attraction audio was interrupted not once… but four times, as a Cast Member had to hop on the intercom to remind guests to stay seated.
The ride did not stop completely, but the audio (music and narration) was turned off multiple times so Cast Members could issue firm warnings over the PA. This was due to guests standing up and attempting to move around while the ride was in motion — a safety hazard Disney takes very seriously. Why This Is a Big Deal
While it might not seem like a big issue, standing up or exiting a ride vehicle mid-attraction can be incredibly dangerous — even on a slow-moving boat ride. Disney attractions are carefully monitored with cameras, and Cast Members are trained to act immediately if someone appears to be behaving unsafely.
This kind of disruption not only puts the standing guest at risk of injury, but it also impacts the experience for everyone else on board.
Remember the Cucumber Incident?
If this story sounds familiar, it might be because Living with the Land has been in the spotlight before for similar behavior. In 2021, a guest went viral after hopping off the boat to grab a cucumber from one of the greenhouse displays. (Yes, really!)
Not only was it unsafe, but the guest took a tumble trying to reboard the moving boat, leading to major online backlash and a reminder of Disney’s strict safety rules.
Here’s What Disney Says About This Kind of Behavior
Disney Parks have clear policies about guest conduct, including:
“Engaging in any unsafe act or other act that might impede the operation of the Walt Disney World Resort or any part thereof.”
Guests who break these rules — especially by interfering with ride operations — can be removed from the park and, in extreme cases, permanently banned. It might seem like a small thing, but it’s a risk Disney doesn’t take lightly.
How You Can Help Keep the Magic Going
We know it’s tempting to lean over for a photo, check out the plants up close, or stand for a better view — but trust us, the best way to enjoy Living with the Land (and all Disney rides) is to stay seated with your arms and legs inside the ride vehicle at all times.
Let’s all do our part to keep these attractions safe, peaceful, and magical for everyone.
