The ongoing mystery construction project at Twilight Zone Tower of Terror just got a lot harder to ignore. What started as a modest patch of scaffolding at Disney's Hollywood Studios has now spread across the Hollywood Tower Hotel's iconic facade, giving Walt Disney World Resort guests a clearer picture of just how extensive this refurbishment really is.
Scaffolding Now Reaches Toward the Hollywood Tower Hotel Sign

New imagery shared by BlogMickey shows scaffolding creeping upward on the attraction, now approaching the famous Hollywood Tower Hotel signage itself. This latest expansion sits on the left side of the building, an area most visible to guests walking through the Villains: Unfairly Ever After courtyard.
Notably, this scaffolding isn't just cosmetic cover. It wraps directly around windows and ornamental tilework, mirroring a pattern first seen on the building's opposite side back in early July. That repeated setup strongly suggests Disney is targeting specific decorative features for restoration rather than performing a routine exterior cleaning.

This week, guests also noticed a fresh coat of pink paint applied to the right side of the building. Color-wise, it matches the rest of the structure perfectly, but there's a catch: Tower of Terror's entire visual identity relies on looking decayed, sun-bleached, and abandoned. Until Disney cast members apply the signature “weathered” finish, that new paint will keep standing out as an obvious work in progress.
As usual, Walt Disney World Resort has offered zero official commentary on what's happening behind the scaffolding. That's consistent with how the company handled last year's exterior refresh of the Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom, where silence prevailed simply because the ride kept running throughout construction. Tower of Terror seems to be getting the same treatment, remaining fully operational for Central Florida Disney Park guests even as crews continue reshaping its haunted exterior in real time.
