Unexpected Collision Disrupts Disney Springs Bus Route

What started as a routine evening departure from Disney Springs quickly turned into something guests won’t forget anytime soon.

On March 20, a Disney bus heading toward Disney’s Wilderness Lodge was involved in a traffic collision shortly after leaving the Disney Springs transportation loop. The incident happened around 7:00 p.m., right as crowds were beginning to wind down from a busy day of dining and shopping.

At first, everything seemed normal. Guests were seated, the bus had space, and the route along Buena Vista Drive was clear. But as the bus approached an intersection, another driver attempted to make a left turn—despite not having the right of way.

That decision led to a collision that, while not catastrophic, still shook up everyone involved.

A Split-Second Situation

According to those familiar with the incident, the driver of the other vehicle misjudged the traffic flow and didn’t realize that Disney buses had priority in that lane. The bus driver reportedly reacted quickly, attempting to slow down and avoid impact, but there simply wasn’t enough time to fully prevent the crash.

The vehicles made contact, leaving visible damage on both sides.

The Disney bus ended up with a cracked windshield, while the other vehicle appeared to suffer more noticeable damage to its door and window area. Even so, the crash didn’t escalate into something more serious—which, given the circumstances, is a best-case outcome.

Guests Checked and Moved Quickly

One of the most important details here is how quickly things were handled afterward.

Disney’s medical team arrived within about 10 to 15 minutes to assess guests onboard. Thankfully, there were no reports of serious injuries, which likely had a lot to do with the fact that everyone was seated at the time of the collision.

Within roughly half an hour, guests were transferred to another bus and continued on to their resort.

That kind of turnaround speaks to how prepared Disney is to respond when something unexpected happens.

A Reminder About Disney Roads

For many visitors, Disney transportation feels like a seamless extension of the vacation experience. Buses arrive frequently, routes are clearly marked, and the system runs with a level of consistency that guests come to rely on.

But at the end of the day, those buses are still operating on real roads.

Unlike the Skyliner or monorail, Disney buses share space with everyday drivers—some of whom may not be familiar with how traffic works on property. That can lead to situations like this, where one mistake creates a ripple effect.

This incident didn’t result in serious harm, but it does highlight how important awareness is when driving near Disney’s bus lanes.

Because even in a place designed for smooth operations, things can shift in an instant.
