During a Nintendo Direct focused on the franchise, Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed the movie will officially be titled The Legend of Zelda.
Nintendo also revealed that the film will not directly retell the story of one specific game.
Instead, the movie will pull from ideas, stories, and concepts that have appeared throughout the franchise. That gives the filmmakers more flexibility to create a version of Hyrule for theaters rather than recreating one game exactly as fans already know it.
That approach could help introduce Zelda to a much broader audience.
And that makes the timing even more interesting for Universal Orlando fans who have been following the rumors about The Lost Continent replacement.
The Lost Continent Mystery Keeps Growing
Universal has been moving forward with demolition, but it has not revealed what guests will eventually find in the space.
That gap has allowed speculation to continue.
The Legend of Zelda has been tied to The Lost Continent in fan and industry rumors for years. Now, with Universal actively removing an opening-day land and Nintendo preparing Zelda for a major live-action movie, the speculation has fresh momentum.

If Universal wants to expand Nintendo’s presence beyond Epic Universe, Islands of Adventure could offer another place to do it.
Zelda Still Has Competition
The Legend of Zelda is not the only franchise mentioned as a possible replacement.
Pokémon has also surfaced repeatedly in conversations about Universal’s future development. Given the franchise’s popularity and Universal’s existing relationship with Nintendo, it remains another possibility that fans continue to discuss.
The Lord of the Rings has also appeared in expansion rumors.
A Middle-earth land would fit the fantasy and adventure tone of Islands of Adventure and could support large-scale attractions, restaurants, shopping, and detailed environments.
At this point, though, none of those options have been confirmed for The Lost Continent.
