Universal Orlando Quietly Starts MASSIVE New Epic Universe Project

Fresh permits, staged materials, and quick-moving demolition—Universal isn’t being subtle. The resort is gearing up for more change, happening far faster than most fans expected. Epic Universe has just opened, but the groundwork for its future is already in motion.

Epic Universe’s Grand Entrance

When the gates opened in May 2025, Epic Universe redefined Universal Orlando Resort. Its lineup of immersive lands—SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, Isle of Berk, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, and Universal Monsters—instantly raised the bar. Celestial Park, the heart of the park, gave guests a hub filled with gardens, restaurants, and rides that brought the entire experience together.

Even with so much new to explore, Universal clearly isn’t satisfied with resting on its success.

Walls Rising at the Back of the Park

Permits now show construction behind Stardust Racers, where green steel beams are used to create a massive wall. This section of Epic Universe was always expected to hold expansion space, but many assumed it would remain untouched for years. Instead, Universal is already transforming it, signaling that the resort has more to reveal.

The Mystery Parcel

As if that wasn’t enough, Universal is eyeing a separate 50-acre parcel close to the Epic Universe site. While the company hasn’t committed to its purpose, the land could support nearly any development. Think new themed lands, hotels, or attractions that tie the park into the larger resort. For Universal, it’s a chance to expand its footprint and keep visitors returning for decades.

Endless Possibilities Ahead

The 50-acre site alone could fit an entire themed land with rides, dining, and shopping. It might extend beloved franchises like Harry Potter or introduce something brand new. Fans are already buzzing about the possibilities, and the scale of the project suggests that whatever comes will be more than just a small addition.

Rockit Comes Down

While Epic Universe gears up for its future, Universal Studios Florida is saying goodbye to Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit. The massive coaster, once a park's centerpiece, has been closed and quickly torn down. Its removal clears prime real estate for something new, signaling Universal’s intent to revamp its parks alongside Epic Universe’s growth.

Why the Rush?

Universal’s timing is deliberate. Epic Universe has been an instant hit, and moving quickly on expansions ensures guests have reasons to return. Instead of waiting years for momentum to fade, Universal is doubling. Visitors who just explored the new park may soon be lured back by fresh attractions, proving that the resort intends to keep pace with demand.

Competition in Orlando

The race between Disney and Universal has always defined Orlando’s theme park scene. Disney continues to revamp its classic parks, but Universal’s aggressive push paints it as the hungrier contender. Epic Universe was already a landmark project; adding so quickly only reinforces Universal’s drive to stay ahead.

What to Expect

Here’s what fans know so far:

  • Expansion walls are under construction inside Epic Universe.

  • A new 50-acre parcel could hold a land, hotel, or new experience.

  • Rockit’s demolition opens the door for another significant addition at Universal Studios Florida.

The message is clear—Universal isn’t slowing down. Epic Universe was the beginning, and the next chapter is already being written.
