Universal Strips ‘Jurassic Park’ From Resort, ‘Trolls’ Takes Its Place

Theme park fans will argue about almost anything. Best ride, best snack, best time to hit the bathroom before the fireworks. At Universal Orlando, there is one more debate that rarely gets talked about out loud: which parking section is the best one?

It sounds silly until you have experienced it. Universal names its garage sections after big-screen favorites, and every section has its own music drifting through the speakers. You do not just park on a level. You park in a movie.

That little bit of showmanship turns a boring trudge into a warm-up act. It gives guests something to remember their spot by, and something to hum on the way in. And for years, one section has had an unfair advantage over the others, because nothing gets the heart racing quite like the Jurassic Park theme as you head off for a day at the parks.

Well, enjoy it while you can.

New Signs, New Soundtrack

Universal Orlando is in the middle of renaming part of its parking garage, according to photos posted to Reddit. The section that has long carried the Jurassic Park name is being switched over to Trolls.

“Apparently the garages are getting new section names,” the poster wrote, adding that the area in the photos “was previously Jurassic park.”

For anyone who needs a refresher, the garage sections have been named after:

  • Jurassic Park
  • King Kong
  • Jaws
  • Spider-Man
  • E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial
  • The Cat in the Hat

The bigger loss for many fans is the audio. Every section plays music connected to its film, so a Trolls section would most likely mean the end of the Jurassic Park score in that spot. We have not seen any official word from Universal on the change yet, including whether more sections are being renamed.

A Strange Time to Bench the Dinosaurs

The timing here is hard to ignore. Jurassic Park is one of the biggest names at Universal Orlando, and it is very much alive inside the parks.

Islands of Adventure has dedicated an entire island to the franchise. Guests can ride Jurassic World VelociCoaster and Pteranodon Flyers, explore Camp Jurassic, step into the Jurassic Park Discovery Center, and come face to face with a raptor at Raptor Encounter.

One of that island's signature rides is currently behind walls. Jurassic Park River Adventure, which opened alongside Islands of Adventure in May 1999, closed on January 5, 2026, for a refurbishment that has stretched across most of the year. Its reopening was first planned for November 19 but has been moved to December 17, 2026, as reported by Inside Universal. As always, refurbishment dates can shift.

So while one of Jurassic Park's best-known rides is getting a lengthy refurbishment, the franchise is quietly losing its spot in the garage.

Compare that to Trolls. Its home at Universal Orlando is DreamWorks Land, a family-friendly area of Universal Studios Florida that opened June 14, 2024. Trolls Trollercoaster is the land's one ride, built on the track of the old Woody Woodpecker's Nuthouse Coaster. On screen, the series includes Trolls (2016), Trolls World Tour (2020), and Trolls Band Together (2023).

The Internet Has Feelings

If you want a quick read on how fans feel, the Reddit thread says it all. The reaction was overwhelmingly sad, with a healthy dose of disbelief.

“What the??? Why??? Who asked for this? Trolls??? The Jurassic Park music in the lot was always so nice :(” one person posted.

For a lot of commenters, the music was the whole point. “That's easily the most upsetting part – no longer hearing the Jurassic Park theme playing. It was my favorite section to be parked at,” one fan wrote. Another put it even more bluntly: “Losing that iconic score for a slop movie like this is criminal.”

One longer comment pointed out that the garage is the first thing many guests hear. “They already play pop music in other parts of the parking garage and CityWalk. If I specifically wanted to hear pop junk that was big 5+ years ago, I'd go to the supermarket.”

Not everyone was against every change. “Changing Jaws and Kong I get; Jurassic to Trolls is a choice,” one person said. But the sense of loss came through again and again. “This is actually something im getting irrationally upset over,” another admitted. “I loved hearing the trex roar echo through the garage.”

There were jokes, too. “They have to be trolling,” one user wrote, while another worried about guests who parked in the morning: “Imagine you parked in Jurassic Park and then can't find your car when you leave since they're doing this midday.” One passholder even claimed, “My UOAP now in jeopardy over this.”

One Last Roar Before the Glitter Drops

Nobody is canceling their trip over a parking sign. Probably. But this one clearly struck a nerve, and it is easy to see why. Small details like this are what make Universal feel special, and the Jurassic Park section has been a lot of people's favorite way to start the day.

We will be keeping an eye on the garage to see whether more sections change and what music ends up playing in the new Trolls area.

In the meantime, we want to hear your take. Is this a harmless refresh, or did Universal just make the most painful parking decision in theme park history? Leave a comment and tell us which garage section you always hope to land in. Bonus points if you have a story about losing your car in one.
