Magic Kingdom's Frontier Trading Post has resumed normal operations following a two-day closure tied to a flooding incident.

The closure comes amid a broader period of change for the park. Two new lands are currently in development: Piston Peak National Park, based on the Cars franchise, and a Villains Land anchored by a Maleficent-themed roller coaster, among other planned experiences. Frontierland has been particularly affected by this expansion. Last year, the Rivers of America was permanently closed to accommodate construction for Piston Peak, a move that drew a mixed reaction from park visitors. At this year's D23 Expo, Disney Experiences chief Thomas Mazloum provided additional details on both projects, including confirmed attraction names.
Despite ongoing construction, Frontierland has continued normal operations, with attractions such as Big Thunder Mountain still running and retail locations, including the Frontier Trading Post, still serving guests. That changed on Monday, August 24, when the Trading Post was taken offline due to reported flooding inside the store. The closure persisted through Tuesday, August 25. Per reports from cast members, the incident stemmed from a flooding event on the evening of August 23 that left “several inches” of standing water inside the location.

Because the Trading Post also functions as a designated Pin Tuesday location, its closure required a temporary operational workaround. Disney placed a merchandise cart outside the store on August 25 so pin sales could continue uninterrupted for guests visiting the park that day.
WDWNT has since confirmed that the Frontier Trading Post reopened on Wednesday, August 26. Initial assessments indicate no visible water damage to the interior, and the location has resumed full merchandise operations, including standard retail offerings and pin sales.
The closure marks the latest in a string of operational disruptions affecting Frontierland as the area transitions toward its next phase of development. No further incidents have been reported at this time.
