Val Kilmer, ‘Batman’ and ‘Top Gun’ Star, Dead at 65

Val Kilmer, the dynamic actor who captured the hearts of audiences with his unforgettable roles in Top Gun and Batman Forever, has sadly passed away at 65.

His death was confirmed to The New York Times by his daughter, Mercedes.

Kilmer’s legacy, forged through iconic characters such as the legendary “Iceman” in 1986’s Top Gun and the complex Bruce Wayne/Batman in Batman Forever, solidified his status as one of Hollywood’s most memorable stars.

Throughout the ’80s and ’90s, Kilmer’s career was a force to be reckoned with. His roles in Willow (1988), Tombstone (1993) and Heat (1995) showcased his range, portraying both charming and intense characters with equal finesse.

However, his later years were marked by a health struggle that led him to step away from acting, as the diagnosis of throat cancer left him unable to speak.

Despite the challenges, Kilmer’s spirit remained strong. In 2021, he shared his journey with fans through the documentary Val, where his son provided a voice for him, allowing Kilmer to continue sharing his story with the world.

His return to the big screen in Top Gun: Maverick (2022) was also a heartfelt moment for fans, with his brief cameo bringing emotional closure to his beloved character, Iceman.
