“Welcome, foolish mortals, to the Haunted Mansion…” Disney’s iconic Haunted Mansion is lighting up social media with a new stunning video capturing a massive lightning strike.
It’s no secret the Disney fandom can’t get enough of all things Haunted Mansion! The classic attraction at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort is a fan favorite as guests ride through the creepy Mansion, clinging to their doom buggy.
As happy haunts multiply and grim grinning ghosts fill the halls, the Disney Park attraction is as fascinating inside as it is outside. And when natural lightning strikes over the Haunted Mansion – it’s a perfect touch of spookiness!
One guest was visiting Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Park when a typical Central Florida storm rolled through.
He took to social media to share both a slow-motion video of the Haunted Mansion in Liberty Square with the lightning strike and the full-speed version as well:

@disneytipsguy commented, “We stood and waited for it with video rolling!! Then screen grabs!” The photo results are incredible:
Florida may be renowned for its nearly year-long warm weather, but it’s also known for its storms, showers, and hurricanes. A passing thunderstorm may sound a little spooky, but it’s par for the course for the Sunshine State!
It’s also worth mentioning that most (if not all) of the buildings in Magic Kingdom Park are equipped with themed weathervanes which also serve as lightning rods, ensuring that each lightning strike is directed to a controlled spot.
The official Walt Disney World website describes the Haunted Mansion ride as “A Spirited Tour.”
The full description reads,
The disembodied voice of the Ghost Host is your private guide through the cadaverous realm of an eerie haunted estate, home to ghosts, ghouls and supernatural surprises.
Glide past a casket-filled conservatory, Madame Leota’s chilling séance room and a ghostly graveyard of singing specters as you attempt to find your way out.
Beware of hitchhikers—these phantom pranksters may follow you home. Happy haunting!
