Why you’ll Totally Love an Evening at Disney's Contemporary Resort Hotel

Monorail Contemporary

This can’t be denied. Walt Disney World is even more enchanting (or dare I say magical?) once the sun has gone down. While the parks take on a mystical life of their own at twilight, there are other spots on property that are worth a nighttime visit. For example, Disney’s deluxe resorts offer exceptional ambiance and a variety of activities to keep guests entertained beyond normal lodgings. Specifically, The Contemporary Resort Hotel – sleek, modern, and dripping in understated elegance, is a wonderful venue for a wonderful evening. Let us count the reasons.

1. Unique Atmosphere

Thanks to its spot on the monorail line, the atmosphere of the Contemporary is unlike any other. This posh hotel is a fifteen to twenty-minute walk from The Magic Kingdom which means one thing – amazing views. Depending on the angle, guests can enjoy panoramic views of either the Seven Seas Lagoon or the glittering theme park. Additionally, the hotel is the definition of majestic featuring mammoth lobbies, larger than life Mary Blair artwork, and a monorail line that runs through the heart of the resort! And while the resort is dedicated to creating a high-class experience, the service and friendliness of the cast members remain as warm-hearted and down to earth as any other spot on property. This is truly the tipping factor and the definition of the “Disney Difference”.

2. Browsing for Souvenirs

The Contemporary may not have as many shops as Disney Springs, but you can still find top-of-the-line souvenirs. Both located within just steps of each other, the Fantasia and Bayview gift shops offer a variety of desirable goodies. While the Fantasia shop has a larger selection of toys and collectible mouse ears, Bayview Gifts has a more diverse selection of home items, artwork, and designer items (e.g. purses, jewelry etc.) Personally, some of my favorite souvenirs have been found in resort gift shops and couldn’t be found anywhere else on property! (Plus, who doesn’t love skipping out on the late night Main Street Emporium crowds?) Instead, jump on the monorail and stop in to see if that “special something” is waiting just for your suitcase.

3. Delectable Dining

Whether you’re a chicken finger or fine dining enthusiast, this resort has plenty of options for you! First of all, The Contempo Café is an excellent counter-service option for all three meals. Conveniently located in the main atrium of the hotel, this spot is renowned for artisanal flatbreads and specialty cupcakes. Located right next store is the highly-coveted ADR, Chef Mickey’s. This character meal features a comfort-food buffet and characters in adorable “Iron Chef” apparel. If you’re looking for a more sophisticated buffet experience, The Wave … of American Flavors is a short walk down the hall. Matching the hip vibe of the hotel, the style is minimalist and the buffet items are more on the inventive side. And last but not least, the elegant California Grill restaurant is the crown jewel of Contemporary dining. Situated at the top of the hotel, this venue offers birds-eye views from its many windows and outside viewing areas. The excellent menu is bursting with hand-rolled sushi, juicy steaks, and wine selections straight from Napa Valley. Meals never disappoint here and they never will. Luckily though, you can’t go wrong with any of these dining choices.
