Guest Jumps in Front of Moving Disney Ride To Retrieve Cell Phone

On Monday, a Disneyland Park guest jumped out of a moving Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway ride vehicle in an attempt to retrieve a fallen cell phone. The woman was nearly struck by several train vehicles before Disney cast members were able to stop the attraction.

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is a trackless ride in the Mickey’s Toontown section of Disneyland Park. The attraction invites guests into a zany cartoon adventure, where they join Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and their friends for a ride filled with unexpected twists and turns. When Goofy’s steam train breaks into pieces, who knows where you’ll end up?

Reddit user u/No-Mulberry-485 was riding Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway on April 28 when the woman beside her suddenly jumped out of the ride vehicle. The guest had previously lost her phone during the ride, and after Disney cast members informed her they couldn’t retrieve it, she decided to take matters into her own hands.

“She decided to ride again, slip out of the lap bar just before we entered Daisy’s cha cha class,” the Redditor explained. “She almost got hit by the cars several times and I was terrified she was going to get trapped underneath it trying to get back into the car.”

Fortunately, Disney cast members acted quickly and activated an emergency stop to halt the ride. Security rushed to the scene to address the situation, and cast members evacuated the remaining guests on board.

“The ride was of course stopped and we were evacuated and security came to get her,” the Redditor continued. “It was insane!”

While it’s unclear what happened to the Disney Park guest after the incident, she was likely banned from Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. Disneyland Resort has a strict policy against actions that endanger guests or cast members, and similar incidents have resulted in bans in the past. In 2023, a man was banned from the parks after jumping out of an “it’s a small world “boat, stripping naked, and climbing around the attraction.

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway eventually reopened and was operating as usual by the time of this article’s publication on Tuesday, April 29.
