Watch: Disney Princesses Sing In Their Original Language

We all know and love these popular Disney movie songs. Hearing the Disney princesses sing them in their native languages is truly amazing.  What’s your favorite?

Disney Princess Ariel

This princess story is based off of the Danish fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen. In it, a young mermaid is willing to give up everything she knows and loves only to gain a human soul.

Disney Princess Mulan

The independent princess was inspired by an actual Chinese historical figure, Hua Mulan from the Ballad of Mulan. In the story, the only daughter of a old war veteran disguises herself as a man in order to enlist and fight in his place.

Disney Princess Elsa

Another Hans Christian Andersen story, The Snow Queen inspired this exciting Norwegian-themed tale of two sisters separated by uncontrolled magic and a dark curse.

Disney Princess Jasmine

Loosely based on the story of the folktale collection One Thousand And One Nights (Aladdin and the Magical Lamp). This Arabian adventure is unlike the other Disney princess stories in that Jasmine is not actually the main character.

Disney Princess Rapunzel

It’s a fairy tale that many are familiar, Tangled is based on the story Rapunzel by the Brothers Grimm.  This German story goes back centuries before to it’s original conception by Friedrich Schulz in 1790!  Schulz’ story is said to have been inspired other folk tales dating back to 1634. (Fun fact: rapunzel is actually the name of the vegetable root that was being desired from the witch’s garden!)
