10 Things You Will Not Be Allowed to Take into a Disney Park

1. Disrespect for Cast Members

Cast Members are on every corner at Disney World. They give directions, help with questions, solve FastPass+ issues, help reunite lost parents with their children, check safety restraints on rides, operate rides, offer free smiles, call little girls “princess,” wave good-bye at night with giant Mickey gloves—the list is endless. Cast Members are the backbone of the entire Walt Disney World operation. And Cast Members are kind people who have a love for Disney just like most Guests do. But because the safety and enjoyment of all Guests is their top priority, Guests may occasionally be asked to refrain from doing something (smoking in prohibited areas, taking drinks and food into certain attractions, running in the parks, standing up in ride vehicles, etc.). Guests are expected to follow safety instructions given by Cast Members. Because those instructions help to create and maintain a safe and magical environment for everyone, the instructions are to be taken seriously. Blatant disregard for Cast Members, as well as belligerent, combative and otherwise disrespectful behavior toward them can lead to the forfeiture of the rest of your time in the parks. It’s not hard. Take direction from Cast Members, be courteous and if you have questions or concerns, present them in a calm, kind and respectful way.

I am a writer and a Mom to four children and two baby shih-tzus. My first experience with the Magic was in 1988, when my parents surprised my brother and me with a visit to Walt Disney World after a short trip to see friends in Georgia. I still hum the tune played during the Main Street Electrical Parade and remember the feeling of excitement from my very first visit. I introduced my husband to the Magic several years ago, and we take our children to the parks every time we can. No matter how many times I visit Walt Disney World, it seems it’s not enough! The ever-changing experience only gets better with each trip, and I’m thrilled to share the Magic with others, as well as some of the tips and tricks to getting the most out of the Magic with each visit!
