10 Times a Year When Crowds Are At their Worst at Disney World

8. Pop Warner National Cheer & Dance Championship Week

The first week of December should be avoided if you’re anti-swarms of teenagers. Why is this? Well, this is when the Pop Warner National Cheer & Dance Championship is held at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Complex. The value resorts are especially crowded and the parks themselves will also be full of perky tween and adolescent cheerleaders. This is something to keep in mind, especially when you think about who you’ll be stuck behind in long lines all week.

9. Christmas

Unsurprisingly, the most popular holiday in the U.S. is also the most popular time to visit WDW! The crowds of Christmas week are infamous for congestion and record-breaking attendance. Some of the parks even hit guest capacity before noon! While it is a great time to enjoy all of the holiday entertainment and decorations, you may want to consider an earlier visit for your sanity. Honestly, it can take the patience of a saint to smile despite the Christmas mobs.

10. New Year’s Eve

Piggybacking off the Christmas craziness, New Year’s Eve is another challenging time to visit. With many of the parks offering special entertainment, hundreds flock to ring in the New Year at this magical venue. My advice? Resist the urge, watch the ball drop from the TV at home, and have a belated celebration in the parks at your convenience. After all, there is always a good excuse to drink around the world in EPCOT.

Despite the insanity of crowds, WDW is magical whenever you choose to visit! Just heed this advice and pack plenty of patience in your suitcase if necessary.
