11 Things That Are Worth Splurging On at Walt Disney World

Chef Mickey's

One could argue that traveling to Walt Disney World at all is a financial splurge in itself. You would be right. However; if your budget can spare it, there are plenty of add-ons that can make your trip even more luxurious and indulgent! (After all, if you’re going to vacation at a place with a castle, you may as well partake in some royal treatment.) Here are some of our favorite ways that you can “treat yoself” when embarking on this magical vacation.

1. Stay Deluxe

There are three tiers of on-property WDW hotels: value, moderate, and deluxe. While all on-property hotels are lovely, the deluxe tier is undeniably top-notch when it comes to theming, on-site dining options, guest room size, and convenience to one of the parks. If you’re really going to haul out the big bucks, consider staying at either the Grand Floridian, Polynesian, or Contemporary hotels on the monorail line. In addition to enjoying a stay at one of these opulent hotels, you will have practically immediate access to both the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. Now that’s my idea of service!

2. Eat Like a King

Contrary to popular belief, all theme park cuisine isn’t limited to hot dogs and cotton candy. WDW has a plethora of dining options that can and do easily compete with the finest “real world” establishments. Save the greasy fast food for home and instead enjoy a perfect steak and wine pairing at the California Grill, try exotic dishes throughout EPCOT’s World Showcase, or eat a hearty Thanksgiving-inspired dinner at the Magic Kingdom’s Liberty Tree Tavern. With so many mouthwatering restaurants to try, you could take many trips without repeating a venue! Indulge those taste buds.

3. Dine with Familiar Faces

Great restaurants in Disney aren’t just delicious, they can also be tons of fun! Character meals are hugely popular, despite a higher price tag. At character meals, a variety of Disney friends visit each table personally for autographs, pictures, and hugs. Not only will this make your child’s face light up with joy, but it will also save you tons of time waiting in lines otherwise. On top of this, most restaurants that offer character meals offer some of the best buffets/dinners on property. 1900 Park Fare’s breakfast, the Tusker House, and Cinderella’s Royal Table are just a few great options that will satisfy your tummy and enchant your family.

4. Dinner and a Show

Speaking of dinner entertainment, every visitor should enjoy the Hoop-Dee-Doo musical revue show at least once! This gem of a production (tucked back in the serene Fort Wilderness and Campground resort) has been entertaining sold-out crowds for decades. The hilarious, family-friendly singing-and-dancing show will tickle your funny bone as you dine on all-you-can-eat barbecue. Again, while this may not be the cheapest dinner option, the experience is worth every penny.
