Disney World guests have watched construction take over several corners of Magic Kingdom in recent years.
But one project in Fantasyland is finally starting to look finished.
Big Top Souvenirs has remained unavailable since February as Disney carried out an extensive refurbishment of the Storybook Circus location. Disney confirmed from the beginning that the closure would be temporary and that the shop would return later in 2026.
Months passed without an exact reopening date.

Now, the appearance of the building has changed dramatically, and Big Top Souvenirs may finally be approaching its comeback.
Big Top Souvenirs Has Been Closed Since February
Disney temporarily closed Big Top Souvenirs on February 20, 2026, kicking off a project that would keep the location unavailable for months. The company currently says the shop is expected to reopen later this year, although it hasn't narrowed that timeline any further.
For regular Magic Kingdom visitors, this wasn't a refurbishment that was easy to overlook.
Big Top Souvenirs sits inside Storybook Circus and occupies a massive circus tent. The location has been part of this section of Fantasyland since the New Fantasyland era roughly 14 years ago.
Once work began, the familiar appearance changed significantly.
The tent covering was removed during construction, leaving the structure underneath exposed. By July, however, a new tent covering had been installed.
That was an important step.
What has happened since then may be an even better sign.
Disney Removes the Scaffolding
The scaffolding surrounding the exterior of Big Top Souvenirs is now gone as the refurbishment nears completion.
Guests can still spot some construction walls around the building, but many of the barriers have been replaced with rolling planters. The refurbished Big Top Souvenirs sign has also been revealed.
Elsewhere around Storybook Circus, additional walls have disappeared.
A planter near the entrance is visible again after Disney removed the barriers that previously surrounded it. Fresh mulch has also been added to the area. Most importantly, scaffolding is no longer visible behind the Big Top Souvenirs tent.
In other words, this is starting to look much less like an active construction zone.
Another Storybook Circus Favorite Already Returned
Big Top Souvenirs isn't the only familiar location in this area that Disney has worked on.
Pete's Silly Sideshow underwent a refurbishment as well, but that location reopened in June.
That left Big Top Souvenirs as another major piece of the Storybook Circus work still waiting to return.
Inside the shop, guests can typically find Disney merchandise, collectible pins, snacks, sweets and cold beverages. Disney describes the location as a circus-inspired shopping experience, making it a natural extension of the surrounding Storybook Circus theme.
After nearly six months away, guests shouldn't have to wait forever to experience it again.

Now We Wait for Disney
There is one catch to all this progress: Disney still hasn't announced the reopening date.
That means we can't say exactly when guests will be allowed back inside.
What Disney has confirmed is that Big Top Souvenirs is expected to reopen later in 2026.
And the physical evidence around the building is increasingly encouraging.
The new tent is installed. The renovated sign is visible. Exterior scaffolding has disappeared. Several construction walls are gone.
After months of work, this 14-year-old Magic Kingdom favorite finally looks like it's getting ready for guests again.
All that's missing now is the reopening announcement.
