5 Dining Experiences You Must Have at Disneyland Resort

You know Disneyland for its iconic Sleeping Beauty Castle, thrilling rides, Pixar Pier and amazing shows and parades. But there’s even more to experience at the happiest place on earth, and you don’t want to miss it! Dining is fabulous at Disneyland—so fabulous in fact, that there are some dining experiences you’ve just got to have when you visit. And so that you don’t miss out, you’ll want to be sure to make your dining reservations before your visit—up to 60 days in advance. Here are five dining experiences you won’t want to miss!

1. Dinner at the Blue Bayou

This great restaurant at New Orleans Square is one of the most popular places to dine at Disneyland. It is absolutely beautiful. The cuisine is Cajun and Creole, and you will actually think you have stepped into New Orleans. Enjoy such offerings as gumbo, spiced shrimp and jambalaya. But it doesn’t stop there. You can also order rack of lamb, steaks, salmon and more. For dessert, try the 8-layer chocolate hazelnut cake or the crème brulee! You can’t go wrong no matter what you order, but it is a mistake not to make a reservation. You can do so by visiting disneyland.disney.go.com or by calling (714)781-DINE.

2. Enjoy Cajun favorites at Café Orleans

Café Orleans is another great restaurant at Disneyland’s New Orleans Square that serves up Cajun and Creole food. (You’re in New Orleans Square after all!) You can sit on the covered patio and enjoy your meal, or you can dine inside and take in all the vintage Disney items and artifacts—they’re all very interesting! For starters, there are soups and salads. For lunch or dinner, you can order great Creole and Cajun dishes like shrimp and grits, Bourbon Street Chicken, steaks and more. For dessert, think back to Disney’s Princess and the Frog and be sure to try the beignets! They’re Mickey-shaped, of course!

3. Relive the Golden Age of Hollywood at the Carthay Circle Restaurant

The Carthay Circle restaurant sits on Buena Vista Street at Disney’s California Adventure Park. The
restaurant serves scrumptious American cuisine and resembles a movie palace from Hollywood of an earlier age. Enjoy firecracker duck wings, Cuban braised pork, salmon, steaks, salads and burgers. There are even pork chops and lamb kabobs—just take your pick! For dessert, try the Citrus Upside-Down Cake—it’s served warm with sour cream sauce! If you like chocolate, try the Dark Chocolate S’mores Cake.

I am a writer and a Mom to four children and two baby shih-tzus. My first experience with the Magic was in 1988, when my parents surprised my brother and me with a visit to Walt Disney World after a short trip to see friends in Georgia. I still hum the tune played during the Main Street Electrical Parade and remember the feeling of excitement from my very first visit. I introduced my husband to the Magic several years ago, and we take our children to the parks every time we can. No matter how many times I visit Walt Disney World, it seems it’s not enough! The ever-changing experience only gets better with each trip, and I’m thrilled to share the Magic with others, as well as some of the tips and tricks to getting the most out of the Magic with each visit!
