7 Ridiculous Lies People Believe About Disney World

Mickey Mouse Parade
More than 50 million people visit Disney World each year. Many of them are Disney fanatics, and some of them are spouses who are making the obligatory pilgrimage to the most magical place on earth to appease their loved ones. And then there are those who have never walked through the gates at any of the four theme parks because they believe things about Disney World that are simply not true. Here are 7 of the lies some people believe about Disney World.

1. It’s Mickey Mouse Land.

I have actually heard Disney World referred to as “Mickey Mouse Land,” but only by those who have yet to visit the parks. And while it’s true that Mickey has a huge presence at Disney World, it’s not accurate to think that the entire resort is nothing more than Mickey. On the contrary, Disney World includes the majority of Disney characters and PIXAR characters. And there’s so much more to the parks than just the characters!

2. It’s just for kids.

Disney World offers everything possible to make the dreams of kids (and kids at heart) come true. But Disney also prides itself in offering adults a myriad of opportunities to experience the magic of Disney too. There are many table service restaurants in the parks and resort hotels that offer adults a chance to get away for a night out—Victoria and Albert’s at Disney’s Grand Floridian is one of many such restaurants. Many of Disney’s resort hotels offer kids’ clubs where the little ones can play and make new friends while Mom and Dad have their own time on vacation.

3. Once is enough.

Utter nonsense. One visit to Disney World is never enough. And that’s enough said.

4. You should just skip EPCOT.

Why is it that people think of EPCOT as the park you should skip if you only have time for three of the theme parks? EPCOT is one of the most interesting parts of Disney World, in my humble opinion. Where else can you go back in time 40,000 years aboard a time rover and see how language and communication have evolved over time? Where else can you go swimming with Nemo and ride the E.A.C. with Crush? And where else can you visit 11 different countries in one day—and all without leaving Central Florida? That’s right—nowhere else! So no, you should NOT skip EPCOT.
