Whenever I am going through a difficult time in my life, one of the ways I can calm my fear, worry, or unhappy mood is to immerse myself in anything Disney. I will watch Disney movies, play Disney music, watch family Disney vacation videos, plus youtube Disney vacation videos. I will go online and check out all the new Disney merchandise. There are many other ways I use Disney to calm or brighten up my mood. Here are a few suggestions that may help anyone who is dealing with difficult circumstances. I hope they will help you too.
1. Disney Movies
There is nothing that compares to a large bowl of freshly popped popcorn, a soda, comfy clothes, and Disney movies. Get your DVD player or other device and watch all the Disney movies that make you feel good or make you laugh. You might even consider surrounding yourself with any Disney plush animals you may have. It always feels good to have MIckey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, or Pluto close by.
2. Disney Trip Videos
I enjoy watching our Disney Trip Videos so much. The memories from each trip is like stepping back in time. It’s like a virtual diary of moments in time when families are having so much fun together at a Disney theme park. It is also a way to visually watch your children change from year to year, especially for those of us who have been traveling to Disney for many years. My parents took my sister and I on a family trip to Disneyland from 1959-1969. After that it was graduations, marriages, children, and Disneyland was forgotten for a while. Later in our lives, Walt Disney World became our new Disney vacation destination.
3. Disney Youtube Videos
I really enjoy watching family trip videos on Youtube. Seeing other families enjoying Disney as much as we do is so entertaining, and what’s really fun is trying to find your family in other family videos. Hey, you never know how many Disney guests have you in the background of their videos. There’s a lot of forwarding, rewinding, and pausing, but it will be so worth it if you catch a glimpse of yourselves on someone else’s video. Most uploaded videos are dated, and if you were at Disney during the same period, who knows?
4. Disney Music
Tell “Alexa” to play Disney favorites while you read a Disney book. There are so many books online about the history of “all things Disney”, like biographies about Walt Disney himself, Disney theme parks, movies, resorts, and much more. Or, just find Disney theme park loop music and relax while enjoying a refreshing cool or soothing hot drink.
5. Disney Game Night-
There are so many Disney games out now, so gather your loved ones for a special Disney Game Night. There are board games, card games, trivia games, etc. Here are a few for your amusement: Disney-themed board games, like “Monopoly”, “Operation”, “Candyland”, “Clue”, “Battleship”, “Chutes and Ladders”, “Family Fued”, “Sorry”, “Life”, and many more. Disney-themed card games and trivia games are great for families with older children. Try a game of “Charades” using Disney themes only.
6. Disney Shopping
Go online and check out the “Shop Disney” webpage and browse all the new and classic Disney-themed merchandise. It’s fun to see all the new Disney merchandise that is headed our way. Shope for clothing, collectibles, Mickey ears, toys, plush, kitchenware, jewelry, etc. Even if you’re not ordering anything, it’s fun to pick out all sorts of merchandise you would like to order. Try picking out the really extraordinary items, write down the prices, then add up what you would have spent if you had ordered everything you wanted.
7. Disney Vacation
What really perks me up when I’m feeling kind of blue is to sit down and begin planning our next Disney Vacation. Planning includes dates, transportation, hotels, Disney Vacation Packages, Holidays, etc. Planning that special, magical Disney Vacation is not only important but a good way to bring the family together and give everyone a chance to participate by giving their feedback on all of the above, especially what Fast Pass attractions are their favorites. The anticipation of a Disney Vacation puts our whole family in a good mood. I’m anxious to begin our planning right now.
There are many more ways Disney can brighten up your day. These were just a few of my ideas. If you’re Disney Fanatics like my family and I are, you will find some of these suggestions useful and will probably come up with a few others. I just know that watching a Disney movie or listening to Disney music makes me feel happy and pushes the “blues” out of my mind. Thank you, Walt, for bringing your wonderful vision of the past, present, and future into our lives in such an imaginative way. This is a better world because of your dreams and bringing them to life for all of us.
