An elderly man has been apprehended by the Orlando County Sheriff’s Office after he reportedly molested children in the lazy river at the nearby Walt Disney World Resort hotel, Club Wyndham Bonnet Creek.
Mr. William Chatel was arrested earlier this week after the event allegedly took place in a lazy river swimming pool at the Club Wyndham Bonnet Creek resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. As reported by Click Orlando, Mr. Chatel allegedly touched a girl aged 12 while she swam around the lazy river.
“According to the affidavit, a mother at the resort told deputies that her 12-year-old daughter was swimming in the lazy river on Sunday,” Click Orlando wrote. “The child reported that she felt something touch her and when she looked down, she saw a man touch her lower back and right side.”
Reportedly caught on camera going underwater as children swam by, law enforcement received calls of someone touching children, and Mr. Chatel was later apprehended in the resort’s hot tub where he stated he didn’t remember anything.
This is not a new occurrence for the accused. In 2017, Mr. Chatel was working at the Goodwill store, located on the corner of Curry Ford and Goldenrod Roads, when parents caught him putting his body against their child’s back and later squeezing the child’s buttocks. He was arrested and held in the Orange County Jail.
According to Click Orlando, the parent of the child has provided the swimsuit to the authorities for DNA collection. Law enforcement has also received a warrant to obtain a sample from Mr. Chatel, with the report saying “he faces charges of lewd and lascivious molestation by a victim 12 or under.”
Just minutes from the popular Walt Disney World Resort theme parks, the Club Wyndham is part of the Bonnet Creek collection of hotels, including the official Disney World partner hotels: Wyndham Grand Orlando Resort Bonnet Creek, Signia by Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek, and the Waldorf Astoria Orlando Bonnet Creek.
