8 Magic Kingdom Attraction Queues with Air Conditioning

5. Disney’s Philharmagic

This is a delightful show for which Guests wear their 3-D glasses and watch intently as Donald Duck tries to find his lost Sorcerer’s Apprentice hat, which belongs, of course, to Mickey and not to Donald at all. The screen on which it plays is one of the largest screens in the world. Thanks to the magic of 3-D and Disney, objects seem to float off the screen and hover in front of Guests, and odorizers give off scents of things seen on screen. The queue for this attraction is first a room in which the line curves around toward a second “holding room” where Guests receive their glasses and stand closely together in preparation for the doors to open so they can enter the theater and be seated for the feature. The queue is pretty bland, but it does include posters of Disney performers and their upcoming respective performances, even if they are not actually part of the Philharmagic show. And it’s wonderfully air-conditioned, so we’ll take that over a fancifully decorated queue. In those warm months, anyway.

I am a writer and a Mom to four children and two baby shih-tzus. My first experience with the Magic was in 1988, when my parents surprised my brother and me with a visit to Walt Disney World after a short trip to see friends in Georgia. I still hum the tune played during the Main Street Electrical Parade and remember the feeling of excitement from my very first visit. I introduced my husband to the Magic several years ago, and we take our children to the parks every time we can. No matter how many times I visit Walt Disney World, it seems it’s not enough! The ever-changing experience only gets better with each trip, and I’m thrilled to share the Magic with others, as well as some of the tips and tricks to getting the most out of the Magic with each visit!
