8 Tips For What To Do At Disney When It Rains

As Christopher Robin would say, “Tut Tut, it looks like rain”. No one likes it when it rains on your vacation. Well, it doesn’t have to be a total bust. Here are our top 8 things to do while you wait out a rainstorm to stay dry and happy.

8. Restaurants

Find a restaurant to grab a bite to eat. There are so many great places to eat at Disney, even if it’s only for a snack. If you have the My Disney Experience app on your smart phone you may get lucky and be able to get a last minute reservation for a meal.

7. Hall of Presidents

The Hall of Presidents in the Magic Kingdom is a great place to go. It’s usually never crowded and you can sit down and watch a show while you wait for the rain to ease up. The stage is filled with past and present United States Presidents that look and sound so real. It’s a great place to get a little history lesson as well.

6. The Haunted Mansion

The Haunted Mansion at the Magic Kingdom is a spooky place to be during a rainstorm. It sets the mood for a scary experience. The line may get long if it’s raining so make a plan to head over there quickly.

5. Space Mountain

The lines are usually pretty long for this ride. If you have this one on your list of things to do, the best time to ride is when it’s raining. You can go through the lines in the comfort of being indoors and out of the rain.

4. Shop

This is time well spent in our eyes. Disney has gift shops and specialty stores all through out the parks. If you want to pick up some gifts for your family and friends back home get them while it’s raining. If you are staying at a Disney Resort, you can have your purchases sent directly to your resort. No need to carry them around.

3. People Watch

Duck under a cover and find a bench or chair to sit for a while and just people watch. Disney is a great place to do this when you are waiting for the rain to stop. It’s like watching a parade of Disney characters except they are Disney guests. On any given day you will see many young versions Cinderella, Snow White, Belle and many other Disney princesses. You may even see a pirate or two. Let’s not leave the grown ups out. Look for crazy hats and a ray of Mickey & Minnie ears as well. We love to do this from the top of the train station on Main Street U.S.A.

1. No worries, You’re at Disney!

The Florida weather can be so crazy at times but for the most part it is the best! Ask a local about the weather and they will usually say “Don’t like the weather right now? Wait for 30 minutes and it will change”. I find that to be so true. So, don’t let the rain get you down or change your plans. Grab a rain poncho and get out there and enjoy the Magic of Disney!
