It has been a difficult couple of months in terms of celebrity deaths, and the most recent of this news comes with the passing of a talented actor at an unfortunately young age.

Gaspard Ulliel, the French actor known for his performance in It’s Only the End of the World (2016), and most recently for his work as the star of Marvel’s Moon Knight (2022) series, has tragically passed away following a skiing accident while in the Alps. The news was confirmed earlier this morning by Ulliel’s agent’s office. The actor was only 37 years old.

At the time of the accident, it is believed that Ulliel was part of a collision with another skier at a point where two different slopes intersected, resulting in immediate and serious brain trauma. Following the accident, the actor was transported to a local hospital by helicopter where he later succumbed to his injuries.

A Disney spokesperson shared condolences with the Hollywood Reporter following news of Ulliel’s passing stating, “We are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of our friend and colleague Gaspard Ulliel. Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this time.”

One of Ulliel’s most recent projects, Marvel’s Moon Knight, will be debuting on March 3, 2022, exclusively on Disney+. The trailer featuring Ulliel as Anton Mogart/Midnight Man was just released earlier this week. Moon Knight features an all-star cast including Oscar Isaac, Ethan Hawke, May Calamawy, and Emily VanCamp in addition to Gaspard Ulliel.

In addition to Ulliel’s role in the upcoming Moon Knight series for Disney+, the French actor was known for his portrayal of Yves Saint Laurent in the 2014 biopic, Saint Laurent, as well as playing young Hannibal Lecter in Hannibal Rising (2007).
