Pym Test Kitchen Impossible Spoonful

Pym Test Kitchen is a quick service restaurant in Disney California Adventure. It is nestled in the heart of the Avengers Campus. It is the perfect place to sit down, eat, drink your favorite Coca-Cola beverage, and watch members of the Avengers pass by and wait for your fastpass for Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout. The restaurant is based on Ant-Man and the Wasp. Using the power of the shrink-and-grow technology of Pym Particles, the menu is full of larger than life and teeny tiny creations. I love that they incorporate plant-based menu items, like this one. The Impossible Spoonful is a pasta dish featuring large and small plant-based meatballs and large and mini pasta. It is topped with tomato sauce, dairy-free cheese, and micro-basil.

Ingredients

  • Impossible Burger Meat – Impossible Burger Meat is a plant-based meat substitute. It is made mostly of soy protein concentrate, potato protein, coconut oil, and sunflower oil. It is also gluten free. Impossible Burger Meat comes the closest to real meat in texture and taste of any of the plant-based meats I have tried.
  • Diced Onions – I like to use yellow onion because it is a little more subtle, but you can also use a white onion.
  • Minced Garlic – If I have said it once, then I have said it a thousand times – fresh garlic is best!
  • Dairy-Free Parmesan Cheese – Yes, you read that right, dairy-free cheese. Dairy-free cheese is made of mostly potato starch, coconut oil, and nutritional yeast. Trader Joe’s has the best vegan parmesan, in my opinion.
  • Italian Seasoning, Salt, and Red Pepper Flakes – This seasoning blend flavors the Impossible meat-balls.
  • Breadcrumbs – Breadcrumbs act as a binder in this meatball recipe.
  • Regular and Mini Pasta – Pym Test Kitchen uses rigatoni and ditalini pastas in their Impossible Spoonful. I can’t always find ditalini, so I use mini penne and regular penne. Any pasta that comes in a big and small size will work! I have seen mini shells and mini farfalle, or bowtie.
  • Tomato Sauce – You can use a homemade tomato sauce, like our Homemade Spaghetti Sauce with Fresh Tomatoes, or a jarred sauce.
  • Microgreens – Pym Test Kitchen uses micro-basil to top their dish, but again, I can’t always find that so I use microgreens. They are mostly for garnish!

I love the Impossible Spoonful, but there are so many other delicious menu items to try at Pym Test Kitchen. Next time you are there, try one of our other favorites! View the full menu on the Disneyland website.

  • Quantum Pretzel – A giant, sharing-sized Bavarian-style pretzel served with a cheesy dipping sauce
  • Pym-ini Sandwich – An Italian pressed sandwich with salami, rosemary ham, provolone cheese, and sun-dried tomato spread on toasted focaccia bread, served with marinara dipping sauce and arugula salad
  • Not so Little Chicken Sandwich – Huge fried chicken breast, cabbage slaw, teriyaki and red chili sauces, served on brioche
  • Caesar Salad and Colossal Crouton – Hearts of romaine, Kalamata olives, piclked onions, Caesar dressing, a giant garlic crouton, and Parmesan crisps
  • PB3 Superb Sandwich – A PB,B,B&J sandwich! Smooth peanut butter, banana, candied bacon, and jelly on Pym Particle bread, served with a micro banana smoothie and crispy potato bites
  • Proton Punch – A unique drink with lemonade, berry puree, cherry boba, and grenadine

Leave Room for Dessert!

Pym Test Kitchen only has one dessert on the menu, but oh my gosh is it good! Finish your Impossible Spoonful, then bite into this massive Choco-Smash Candy Bar. It is chock full of dark chocolate, peanuts, caramel, nougat, and chocolate brownie. It is definitely big enough to share between 2 or 3 adults.
