Disney World Character’s Throat Ripped, Emergency Alert Blares

Walt Disney World Resort guests were left stunned after encountering a shocking animatronic character malfunction at Magic Kingdom Park’s newest ride, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure debuted at Magic Kingdom in June 2024, replacing the controversial Splash Mountain. However, since its opening, the attraction has faced repeated setbacks, including technical issues, extended downtimes, and animatronic malfunctions. Now, some guests are reporting that these problems are becoming increasingly visible.

A Magic Kingdom Park guest recently took to social media to share a startling malfunction on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. In a video posted by TikTok user @brandon.paints.the.parks, one of the ride’s animatronic figures appears to have significantly deteriorated after less than a year in operation.

The character in question, Louis the alligator, has visible damage to its fabric, exposing internal mechanisms in a way that some Disney Park guests found unsettling.

“Throat Slit” on Disney Character

“Tiana’s is coming apart at the seams, literally,” the TikTok user said. “At least, this first giant Louis animatronic is literally ripping. Its throat is slit, highly visible, and like I said, it’s kind of the first thing you see once you go inside of the mountain.”

While animatronic malfunctions are nothing new at Disney Parks, the way in which this particular issue manifested left an impression on those who witnessed it. Given that Louis is one of the attraction’s largest and most detailed figures, the visual damage quickly became a talking point among Disney Parks fans online.

Emergency Alert Adds to the Chaos

As if the sight of a damaged animatronic wasn’t enough, guests aboard Tiana’s Bayou Adventure also encountered other issues during their ride experience.

The TikTok user reported that a loud emergency alert blared in the indoor parts of the attraction throughout their journey. The issues continued toward the end of the ride, as the guest pointed out that the final Mama Odie animatronic also appeared to be malfunctioning, specifically noting that its mouth was not moving properly.

“I understand a lot of these animatronics have been struggling with their timing and with working at all,” the Disney Park guest explained. “I do not hate Tiana’s; I actually love it. But not a great look for the haters.”

Fans Debate the State of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

Since its debut, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has been scrutinized by both longtime Disney Parks fans and former Splash Mountain enthusiasts, who remain divided over the ride’s overhaul. Following the viral video, fans online voiced their concerns, with some suggesting that the attraction had been rushed.

“It’s time to admit they rushed this roll out and didn’t think things through….” TikTok user @bdaycyberstar wrote.

“They rushed it and now they’re repping the consequences,” said @insomniack7.

“Wish we had the old animatronics from Splash Mountain,” @deannamain807 replied. “They should have kept it.”

Not everyone agreed with the criticism, however. Some Disney Park fans were quick to remind others that Splash Mountain also had its fair share of technical difficulties.

“[You're] blinded by nostalgia,” @rakkunji_ argued.

“Y’all do realize that Splash Mountain animatronics hardly all worked right,” @twilightsparkle307 agreed.

While Walt Disney World Resort has yet to comment on this specific animatronic issue, guests continue to report varying ride experiences on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Whether Walt Disney Imagineers will make adjustments to address the animatronic deterioration and emergency alert remains to be seen.

  1. One time ago on the TTA aka WedWay People Mover. The ride did malfunction around the Space Mountain tunnel. I didn’t panic big time which I never did. But did follow correct protocol to the ride crew & was led off with the other riders in good fashion. Then I went on to find other rides to try.
