Hold onto your wands, witches and wizards – Universal just dropped a major game-changer for fans who’ve felt left out of the ride fun.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is leveling up BIG TIME, and we mean that literally. The brand new attraction coming to Epic Universe, Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry, is bringing the magic to more guests than ever before — including larger-bodied riders who’ve had a rough time squeezing into past Potter rides.

Not Everyone Could Ride Before — And People Were MAD

Let’s be real: theme parks are made for thrills… but not always for every body. Safety restraints, lap bars, and “one-size-fits-some” seats have left a LOT of guests feeling left out — especially at Universal, where some of the biggest thrills come with the tightest fits.

People have been calling this out for years, especially when it comes to rides like Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey and Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure. Even if you waited in line for an hour? You still might get booted if you couldn’t fit in the test seat out front.

Well, NOT anymore!

New Ride, New Energy — and a NEW SEAT THAT ACTUALLY FITS

Universal’s about to flip the script with their newest Potterhead dream ride, Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry, opening May 22, 2025 at Epic Universe.

And it’s making headlines for a VERY different reason.

“This is the most accommodating Potter ride to date!” Theme Park Express shared, with pics of the test seats. “The seatbelt can stretch across the two seats for context! Fluffy folks rejoice!” YES.

There’s a test seat outside the attraction, as usual — but this one is WAY more generous. Plus, there’s a lap seatbelt design that gives guests more flexibility. And, yeah, a minimum height of 40” is still required, but the ride is already being called the most accessible Harry Potter ride ever.

Single Rider? Swap Partner? Universal’s Got You.
Not only are the seats more forgiving, but Universal is making the whole experience smoother. Expect a single-rider line AND a Rider Swap room, so families don’t have to split up if someone can’t or doesn’t want to ride.

No more awkward exits halfway through the queue — you can roll through the full line experience and still opt out before boarding. Easy.

WAIT ‘TIL YOU HEAR ABOUT THIS QUEUE

This isn’t just a ride. This is an event. And it starts the second you walk into the Ministry of Magic.

We’re talking MASSIVE offices that stretch up to the ceiling, creepy talking statues, enchanted portraits that actually move, and Dolores Umbridge’s signature pink nightmare of an office.

And THEN you meet Higgledy — a sassy house-elf (formerly Umbridge’s!) who shows up in the queue as a hyper-realistic animatronic that has people doing double takes.

Here’s Where It Gets WILD (Spoilers Ahead!)

The storyline? B-A-N-A-N-A-S in the best way. You hop into a magic elevator that’s taking you to Umbridge’s trial. (Yes, she’s finally being held accountable — long overdue if you ask us.)

Harry, Ron, Hermione, and even Higgledy are all part of the journey. But just as you’re heading down… BAM! A Death Eater busts Umbridge out of custody, and your elevator starts free-falling.

Cue the chaos.

Spell battles. Flying debris. Screaming wizards. Animatronic Death Eaters. The effects are so good, one guest thought they were actual human actors.

“Quincy shared that she even thought a few times they were live actors!”

It doesn’t stop there. You get chased by a GIANT Erumpent (aka magical rhino on steroids), slam into the Department of Mysteries, and then dive into the Time Room.

Umbridge tries to use a time turner (bad idea, sis) and shatters reality. You land in a creepy void where she appears AGAIN, but this time? She’s toast.

Harry and Ron finally get the upper hand, and Kingsley Shacklebolt delivers the verdict: GUILTY. ✨ Justice is SERVED. ✨

This Ride Isn’t Just Fun — It’s a Statement

By redesigning the seat experience, Universal is doing what fans have begged for: letting everyone have a seat at the table — or in this case, on the ride.

The buzz is real. People who’ve walked away disappointed from other Potter rides now have something to celebrate. It’s a big step toward theme park equity, and Universal deserves some serious credit for it.

Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry opens May 22, 2025 — and if the hype is any indication, it’s going to be a MASSIVE hit.

Ready to ride? We are. Now excuse us while we go practice our spells and stretch out for that test seat.
