Get ready to fasten your seatbelts—Test Track presented by General Motors is back in the driver’s seat at EPCOT, and it's sporting a completely reimagined look and feel. Launching July 22, 2025, this redesigned attraction brings together the past, present, and future of transportation storytelling in true EPCOT fashion.
The updated Test Track isn’t just about accelerating thrills. At its core is a meaningful tribute to World of Motion, the original attraction that once lived in the same space. With this reimagining, Walt Disney Imagineering and General Motors are bringing a fresh take to a classic concept, with what Disney describes as “an all-new storyline” that reflects EPCOT’s mission of innovation and progress.

That journey of reinvention first began with a major announcement at D23 Expo 2024, when Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences, spoke about the exciting transformations underway across Disney parks. “Plans are drawn. Dirt is moving,” he teased. And EPCOT’s evolution has lived up to that promise.
During Women in Construction Week, fans got an exclusive glimpse at what was happening behind the scenes. In a behind-the-wall video shared to Instagram, Project Engineer Carleigh walked viewers through her day on site, pointing out early design changes and stripped-down queue areas. Soon after, Imagineering debuted Test Track’s striking new marquee, complete with a luminous new logo that mirrors the attraction’s modernized exterior.

The relaunch also marks the attraction’s shift into the top tier of EPCOT’s Lightning Lane Multi Pass system. Starting July 22, guests will be able to select one top-tier attraction—Test Track, now replacing Soarin’ Around the World—and two experiences from the second tier. But unlike the previews, there will be no virtual queue available on opening day. That means visitors will have to plan accordingly, as only standby or Lightning Lane options will be available.
Annual Passholders, however, are already getting a head start. Disney has announced preview dates on July 13, 14, 15, 16, 18, and 19 (notably skipping July 17). According to the My Disney Experience app, Passholders can join a virtual queue at 7:00 a.m.—with a valid park reservation for EPCOT—or again at 1:00 p.m., which only requires an active Annual Pass.

Demand was immediate: EPCOT reservations for July 13 were scooped up quickly, and the 7:00 a.m. virtual queue filled in just three seconds, underscoring how eager fans are to experience this new iteration and sending a clear message to other guests: everybody wants to ride this.
Over at Disney Parks Blog, the reimagined Test Track was teased with a spirit of motion and wonder: “Get ready to feel the thrill of the open road, the wind in your hair, and nothing but adventure ahead!” That sense of freedom is exactly what the ride promises to deliver—an experience that embraces both speed and story.
Change is evident beyond Test Track, too. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is currently closed as groundwork begins on the “Beyond Big Thunder” expansion. Meanwhile, Disney’s Hollywood Studios is laying the foundation for a new land themed to Monsters, Inc., a clear signal of more storytelling magic on the way.

And with Universal Orlando’s Epic Universe now officially open just a few miles away, all eyes are on what Disney unveils next. Test Track’s relaunch is one piece of a much larger transformation across the resort—and it’s one that fans old and new won’t want to miss.
Whether you're nostalgic for EPCOT’s early days or excited to see what's around the bend, this refreshed Test Track experience is ready to shift into gear.
