A recent firing at Disneyland Resort has sparked an intense debate among Disney Parks fans. The dismissal of a former Disney cast member, who claims he was let go for filming behind the scenes at Disneyland Park, has divided opinions, with many defending the employee and questioning whether Disney’s actions were too harsh.
Disney Fanatic first covered the controversy earlier this month, when TikTok user @offeruphustle shared a video explaining the reason for his termination. According to the former Disney cast member, the footage was taken on Main Street, U.S.A., after Disneyland Park had closed, making the area a “backstage” zone, even though it is typically considered “onstage.” Disney cast members are strictly prohibited from filming or taking photos in backstage areas, which is why the video, taken in an off-limits space, led to the firing.
@offeruphustle The video that got me FIRED. Sucks cuz I was days away from quitting and doing OfferUp full time and running my laser business. They beat me to the punch 😂😂 #disneyland
The decision to fire the Disney cast member has ignited strong opinions online. Some Disney Parks fans argue that the punishment was too severe, while others say the former employee should have been fully aware of the rules and the consequences of breaking them.
One social media user, @charlie2022la, commented, “Disneyland has really become a tyranny, cant believe they would fire you over something so petty…”
“That’s a silly rule,” @jordyn.reyes_ added.

The former Disney cast member responded to criticism by explaining that his intentions were not malicious. He wanted to show Disney Park guests how much effort cast members put into keeping the parks clean.
“Ppl would say Disney don’t wash the floors everyday. Well I was the one washing the floors everyday except Wednesday/Thursday rain or shine,” he said.
@jazmineadrianaa pointed out that Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort often share behind-the-scenes moments with the public: “Don’t they have like ‘behind the magic’ videos that show the workers getting Disney in shape or whatever. Right??? Like or am I wrong?? Sooo I don’t understand how this video was soo bad..”
Another user, @justicejones007, shared their own experience working with Disney in the Video Tape Department. They recounted creating behind-the-scenes programming, including a video called “Disney After Dark,” which showed what happens after the parks close: “There are no secrets spilled. The park looks beautiful. And it feels magical. Isn’t that the whole point of Disneyland? Tell me what is wrong here.”
However, some fans still sided with Disneyland Resort, arguing that the rules exist for a reason.

“You knew the rules you knew the consequences,” said one Disney Fanatic commenter. “Sorry you got fired but you asked for it. That’s what wrong with people you think you can break the rules and you don’t have to pay for it.”
Ultimately, the former Disney cast member appears to have moved on. He shared that he was “days away from quitting” before Disneyland Resort “beat [him] to the punch” and let him go. Now, he is focusing on his own business full-time.

After the initial video gained attention, the former employee shared a second video showing Disneyland Park after hours, further offering a glimpse into what happens behind the scenes:
@offeruphustle Enjoy the clip 🏰 This was around 5am What’s your best memory here #disneyland #disneycastle
