Walt Disney World is implementing new reservation requirements that will directly affect annual passholders this month. Starting July 20, 2025, those holding annual passes must have a valid theme park reservation to enter the Magic Kingdom. This change marks a significant shift in access for these loyal guests, who previously enjoyed the flexibility of visiting without reservations. Interestingly, while access to the Magic Kingdom will now require a reservation at any hour, passholders can still visit EPCOT, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios without reservations after 2:00 p.m. on the same day.

This change drastically alters the landscape for pass holders. Comparing the current entry policy to the upcoming restrictions highlights the shift in accessibility. Once the new rules are in effect, access to the Magic Kingdom, a park that many passholders frequent, requires advance planning.

Historically, Disney has sought to manage crowd capacity for various reasons, including guest experience and safety. These adjustments reflect a broader trend in theme parks where visitor numbers are closely monitored to enhance the experience. Although the excitement surrounding events like Disney Starlight highlights the park's appeal, the logistics of accommodating large groups necessitate these changes.

While the new reservation requirements may limit access to the Magic Kingdom, passholders still possess flexible options for visiting other parks. EPCOT, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios will remain accessible after 2:00 p.m. without any reservation needed. This allows passholders to enjoy different experiences at Disney's other parks throughout the day.

Moreover, the changes in access and reservation policies will be worthwhile for passholders to monitor. As Disney adapts to crowds and special events, there may be further updates or adjustments to ensure a magical experience for all guests. Whether visiting EPCOT for its iconic festivals or exploring Animal Kingdom and its diverse attractions, passholders can continue to find joy in Disney’s offerings despite the upcoming changes.
