At EPCOT, a fan-favorite attraction is shifting gears. On July 22, 2025, the newly reimagined Test Track presented by General Motors officially opens to all guests, delivering a high-speed adventure designed to celebrate both the past and future of innovation at Walt Disney World Resort.
A standout reveal at D23 Expo 2024, this updated experience was part of a larger look into the future of Disney theme parks, shared by Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro. “Imagineers dream, create, design and build these stories into real places,” he noted. “Plans are drawn. Dirt is moving.” That vision is now coming to life in World Discovery at EPCOT.
The revamped Test Track draws thoughtful inspiration from the original World of Motion attraction, which once stood where the current ride now lives. By revisiting that classic EPCOT spirit, Imagineers have infused the new Test Track with the same imaginative optimism that helped shape the park’s legacy, now paired with a bold, modern aesthetic and immersive ride design.
Passholders got a sneak peek ahead of opening week, with Annual Passholder previews set for July 13, 14, 15, 16, 18, and 19—though notably not July 17. Through the My Disney Experience app, eligible Passholders could attempt to join a virtual queue at 7:00 a.m. (with a park reservation) or again at 1:00 p.m. (with a valid pass only). Demand was intense—the 7:00 a.m. queue for July 13 reportedly filled in just three seconds.
Midway through the preview schedule, however, Disney appeared to pivot. On July 18, Annual Passholders without virtual queue access were welcomed into the standby line after presenting their AP credentials to cast members. It remains uncertain whether this method will be repeated for the final preview day, July 19, or if it was a one-day exception tied to lower-than-expected crowd levels.
Once the attraction officially launches, Test Track will become part of the top-tier Lightning Lane offerings at EPCOT. Guests may access it via the standby line or select it through the Lightning Lane Multi Pass system. It now replaces Soarin’ Around the World as the top-tier choice in the park.
This evolution of Test Track reflects a broader wave of transformation sweeping across Walt Disney World. At Magic Kingdom, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is currently closed while initial work begins on the forthcoming “Beyond Big Thunder” expansion. Meanwhile, over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, a Monsters, Inc.-themed land is in development, offering a new way for guests to step into the world of their favorite Pixar monsters.
