Disney’s Most Famous Faces Spotted Bound Like Hostages on U.S. Highway

If you’ve been keeping an eye on Anaheim streets this week, you might have spotted something truly magical making its way to Disneyland Resort. The iconic Fab 5 pumpkins — Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto — were seen traveling toward their seasonal home above the entrance gates of Disneyland Park. These oversized jack-o’-lanterns, each uniquely designed to capture the personality of Disney’s most beloved characters, mark the official start of Halloween Time at the resort.

Social media lit up after Matt posted on X, “The Disneyland front gate pumpkins have been spotted heading to Disneyland! 📸: @cecequorn and @thecalibae on IG.” The photos shared by excited fans perfectly showcase these massive pumpkins in transit, each one a creative work of art that Disneyland guests eagerly await every year.

The Pumpkin Quintet: Disneyland’s Must-See Halloween Tradition

Every fall, Disneyland Park’s entrance transforms into a seasonal spectacle with these gigantic character pumpkins taking center stage. Mickey’s cheerful grin welcomes visitors first, while Minnie’s pumpkin combines charm and spookiness in equal measure. Donald’s pumpkin shows off a mischievous glare, Goofy’s wears his trademark playful smile, and Pluto’s pumpkin captures his lovable, goofy spirit.

Positioned above the park’s turnstiles, these pumpkins greet millions of visitors from mid-September through early November. For many, pausing for that perfect photo with Mickey’s pumpkin in Town Square has become an essential part of their Halloween visit — a snapshot that kicks off the festive fun.

Anaheim’s Halloween Scene: More Than Just Pumpkins

The arrival of the Fab 5 pumpkins coincides with the build-up to one of Disneyland Resort’s most exciting seasonal events: Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party. This separately ticketed, after-hours celebration takes place across the esplanade at Disney California Adventure Park and offers guests an immersive Halloween experience filled with exclusive entertainment, character appearances, and trick-or-treat fun.

While the Fab 5 pumpkins remain rooted at Disneyland Park’s entrance, their arrival only amps up the anticipation for what’s happening across the way at California Adventure.

Running select nights from August 17 through October 31, 2025, Oogie Boogie Bash invites guests to a magical evening starting at 6 p.m. and ending at 11 p.m. Ticket holders get early entry at 3 p.m., allowing time to enjoy the park during regular hours before the party officially begins.

One of the event’s crown jewels is the Frightfully Fun Parade. This exclusive procession features iconic Halloween characters like Jack Skellington and the Headless Horseman, along with a host of Disney villains. Known for its perfect mix of spooky and playful, this parade has quickly become a fan favorite. Guests wanting an enhanced parade experience can book the dessert party, which offers prime seating and a selection of themed treats.

Another highlight is Villains Grove at the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail. This immersive nighttime walk brings to life Disney’s darkest villains through enchanting light displays and atmospheric scenes, creating a surreal Halloween environment.

Treat Trails and Costume Celebrations

Oogie Boogie Bash encourages guests to dress in costume — within Disney’s guidelines — adding to the festive atmosphere. Whether you’re going all out with professional hair and makeup stylists at Tenaya Stone Spa inside Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa or sporting cozy themed apparel from the Mickey Mouse Family Halloween Collection, there are plenty of ways to get into the spirit.

The party features 12 treat trails where guests can collect candy favorites like M&M’S, SKITTLES, and SNICKERS. Cast members also offer allergy-friendly and no-sugar-added options, making sure everyone can enjoy the sweets safely. Character meet-and-greets include appearances by classic and rare Disney friends, all dressed up in their Halloween finest.

Feast on Seasonal Flavors

Food lovers will find plenty to indulge in throughout the resort’s Halloween season. Starting August 22, fall-themed favorites like pumpkin pie churros and achiote half-chicken become available.

During Oogie Boogie Bash, special savory dishes include Loaded Buffalo Chicken Fries and Carolina Loaded Tenders at Flo’s V8 Cafe, Chili-Cheese Fries at Award Wieners, and the seasonal Ube Hot Chocolate (which can be spiked with vanilla vodka for adults) at Cozy Cone Motel.

No Halloween celebration here would be complete without the Mayor Sipper cup, inspired by Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. Available at various park locations, it’s a collectible and refreshing way to toast the season.

Exclusive Halloween Merch To Snag

Oogie Boogie Bash also offers a variety of limited-edition merchandise. Visitors can shop for crossbody bags, Minnie Mouse ear headbands, spirit jerseys, and other themed items inspired by Mr. Oogie Boogie himself. These are available at select locations including Elias & Co., Gone Hollywood, and Seaside Souvenirs.

What Does the Pumpkin Convoy Mean for Fans?

Seeing the Fab 5 pumpkins rolling through Anaheim isn’t just a logistics update — it’s a seasonal signal that Halloween Time at Disneyland Resort is officially underway. For guests and locals alike, it’s a festive reminder that the resort is ready to transform into a spooky playground full of fun, frights, and family-friendly magic.

While these pumpkins stand guard at Disneyland Park’s entrance, Oogie Boogie Bash promises to enchant visitors with its unique blend of spooky entertainment and seasonal delights at Disney California Adventure.
